At the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, emphasized that, building on the tradition of close and sincere cooperation between the two Universities of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University, located at opposite ends of the country, the leaders of the two universities have adopted policies to promote cooperation and exploit common resources in the development process of both units. With the policy of digital transformation in university management, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, wishes to cooperate with other units in developing databases to best serve training and scientific research activities, especially cooperation with the Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
Associate Professor Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, emphasized that the implementation of the endogenous database sharing project will bring many benefits to students and teachers of both units.
Ms. Bui Thu Hang, M.Sc. - Director of the Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, shared information about the endogenous information resources of VNU-HCM and the potential for cooperation between the two universities.
During the meeting, the leaders of the two institutions agreed that the two leading universities in the country in social sciences and humanities would coordinate activities to provide library information services; connect and share bibliographic information and internally generated information resources on the Koha software (bibliography) and internally generated full-text documents on the Dspace software to better meet the needs of students, lecturers, and researchers of both universities. This activity contributes to saving costs on purchasing and maintaining library management software, and especially to effectively utilize resources between the two universities in supporting staff, lecturers, and students in learning, teaching, and scientific research.
Specifically, with regard to sharing internally generated electronic documents, students, postgraduate students, staff, and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi are allowed to use the internally generated electronic database of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City.
Associate Professor Lai Quoc Khanh instructed the Center for Communication and Information Technology, the General Administration Department, and the Faculty of Information and Library Science to coordinate and implement the above-mentioned cooperation activities as soon as possible and with the highest efficiency, bringing convenience to the faculty and students of the university. It is expected that in phase 1, from November 2024 to May 2025, the project will be piloted with 3 faculties of VNU-USSH. In the next phase (from May 2025 onwards), it will be implemented for other faculties/institutes/departments throughout the university.
Leaders of the relevant units have made significant contributions to the effective cooperation and database sharing.
Previously, at the 2023 Annual Meeting between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, held on May 26, 2023, key leaders of the two institutions shared experiences in building high-quality human resources, training programs, and digital transformation in university management, alongside many collaborative activities in training and research between the two leading universities in social sciences and humanities in the North and South of Vietnam.
