Thoughts on the beginning of spring

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh (Faculty of Sociology): I believe in the increasingly deep international integration of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

In fact, after completing his doctoral program at the Free University of Amsterdam (Netherlands) in 2010, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh returned to the University with the aspiration to contribute to the internationalization of teaching and research in sociology. In his scientific research, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh has undertaken numerous projects and collaborations with scientists from many prestigious universities and research institutes around the world. As a result, many monographs and scientific articles have been published in which Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh is the author or co-author with international and Vietnamese scientists. Among these works are articles published in leading international social science journals such as The Journal of Peasant Studies and The Journal of Development Studies.

In his teaching, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh collaborates with scientists from renowned universities worldwide to teach Sociology students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh also teaches Sociology in English to many international joint undergraduate programs within the framework of cooperation between Vietnamese universities such as the Foreign Trade University and the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and prestigious universities in Europe and the United States. Looking forward to the 70th anniversary of the Faculty of Literature – the predecessor of the current University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi – Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Tuan Anh is full of confidence in the deep international integration of the Sociology Department in particular and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Thu Huong (Faculty of Sociology): Scientific research helps us to mature.

As one of the university's young associate professors, Ms. Hoang Thu Huong boasts an impressive list of achievements: Outstanding Young Face of Hanoi National University in 2013, Outstanding Young Intellectual of Hanoi (2nd time) in 2011, Certificate of Merit from the Minister of Education and Training for the Student Scientific Research Award and the Creative Youth Medal from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in 2000,... In her 13 years as a lecturer at the university, she has supervised nearly 30 undergraduate students successfully defending their graduation theses, 16 postgraduate students successfully defending their master's theses, and is currently co-supervising 3 doctoral candidates. In addition, she actively participates in scientific research, leading and participating in numerous research projects.

Since 2006, she has chaired five scientific research projects at various levels, from grassroots to national, participated in managing several research projects, and served as a social consultant for numerous foreign-funded research and development projects implemented in Vietnam. Her achievements in scientific research are demonstrated through 20 scientific articles published in domestic specialized scientific journals and at national and international scientific conferences, along with seven monographs (one author and six co-authors).

Having been associated with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for over 17 years since her student days, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Thu Huong has a special affection for this institution – the place where she studied, trained, matured, and achieved success.The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a friendly institution that always creates many opportunities for students to train and develop both their knowledge and soft skills. As a leading university in research and training in social sciences and humanities for the country, Associate Professor Dr. Hoang Thu Huong believes that scientific research should be an important activity in the learning process of the university's students. She offered the following advice to the students:When choosing any field of study or career, pursue it wholeheartedly with passion, especially in scientific research. Scientific research provides us with practical experiences and helps us grow. Scientific research gives us practical knowledge and skills, helping us to mature."
