After graduating from the Psychology Department, Mai Lan was retained to work at the University from 2007. Having been involved in student union activities throughout her high school years, she quickly became a unifying force among her classmates when she entered university. She was elected Secretary of the Youth Union branch, a member of the Standing Committee of the Student Union, President of the Psychology Department's Student Association, and Vice President of the University's Student Union. She shared:I am an energetic person and I really enjoy group activities. I'm also fortunate to have inherited my father's aptitude for teamwork. My connection with youth group activities has been like fate. Choosing Psychology to continue my studies stems from my desire to better understand the psychology of others in order to serve my work more effectively. The nature of youth group activities is teamwork and organization, so understanding the psychology of others is crucial. From youth group activities, I came to Psychology, and from there, I returned to serve the Youth Group. It truly is a matter of destiny."
Open-minded, friendly, and enthusiastic, Mai Lan seems to have been born to do youth union work. For her, youth union work is not the work of any one individual, nor can any one person do it alone. It is the work of a collective. Each individual in that collective must connect, share, help, and support each other with enthusiasm and eagerness.

She said:What I care about most is the effectiveness of my work. I always provide dedicated guidance to the Youth Union and Student Association members in all activities. I believe that everything I contribute represents the entire organization, not serving any one individual personally."In her work, she is always serious and strict with all students who have not completed their assigned tasks. Outside of work, she is always friendly and integrates into the students' lives. This is what has earned her the trust, respect, and admiration of generations of students."
She also serves as a bridge between the teachers and the students:Times change, and understanding the psychology of students is essential. As the President of the Student Union and the Vice Secretary of the Youth Union, I've had the opportunity to interact with many different student groups, allowing me to understand their thoughts and needs. Therefore, I create opportunities for students to organize activities themselves and take the lead. I, on the other hand, observe, guide, and provide dedicated support whenever they encounter difficulties or problems. Furthermore, the faculty at the university can better understand and grasp the students' psychology through the Youth Union and Student Union channels."Ms. Mai Lan shared.
Having been involved in student union activities for many years, she has always been concerned about helping students adapt to the environment in the best way possible. She confided:The times have a profound impact on the psychology of every individual. Today's students are supported by many resources such as the internet, newspapers, television, etc., so they have many things to entertain themselves with. Attracting them to participate in activities within the Youth Union or helping them adapt to a group environment is not easy. But I always believe that with the enthusiasm and mindset of the Youth Union officers at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, I and other members of the Youth Union can build closer relationships with the students."
Her greatest joy is seeing the students mature after each academic year. An ending opens a new beginning; a bittersweet farewell to the old cohort, followed by an enthusiastic welcome to the new one with its bewildered faces. She has also stood alongside many students who, after graduation, have achieved great success thanks to the professional activities and skills they acquired at the university. For her, student union work is an endless journey, without a destination.
Because of her dedication to student union activities, Mai Lan has received numerous certificates of merit and awards from various levels, including Certificates of Merit from the National University, the Hanoi Youth Union, and the Vietnam Student Association, as well as Certificates of Merit from the school's Principal, the school's Youth Union, and the school's Student Association.
As an outstanding female Youth Union and Student Association officer who works wholeheartedly for the collective good, she also offers advice to students in general and those who are still shy and hesitant in particular:First and foremost, you must overcome your initial hesitations. Open yourself up and participate in even the smallest activities in class, gradually progressing to student organizations and clubs. Be confident in expressing yourself, proactively seek support, and only then will opportunities open up for you."For her, the students are the greatest resource that helps her nurture her passion and desire for her work."
