Vietnamese Studies: Spreading Vietnamese Identity

Currently, preliminary statistics show that there are hundreds of research, training, and teaching institutions for Vietnamese language and related fields of study around the world. On average, dozens of international conferences on Vietnamese studies are held annually in many countries and continents. A community of reputable Vietnamese studies scholars has been formed with professional activities and exchanges of high academic and practical value. The field of Vietnamese studies has made solid progress since the early 1990s. In Vietnam, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VSL) is a leading and prestigious institution for Vietnamese studies training, and the only unit that has developed two separate Vietnamese studies programs for two distinct groups: Vietnamese and foreign students.
