The news that Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hai Ke had passed away after more than 10 days in the hospital shocked and saddened many teachers, colleagues, friends, and students of all generations of the Faculty of History. For nearly 2 weeks, friends, colleagues, and students took turns staying at the hospital, hoping to provide timely encouragement and strength for the Professor and his family. However, the bad developments came too quickly. The overwhelming love of everyone, the dedication of doctors and nurses, and the best medical advances could not help the Professor return to his family, friends, and colleagues.

In 1981, for some reasons, we, the 26th class of the History Department, entered school late. Fortunately, in the first hour, the first day of our student life, we listened to Mr. Tran Quoc Vuong teach about Archaeology from an interdisciplinary approach. It can be said that it was the strange attraction from those first lectures of the teachers, the dedicated and talented scientists of the History Department that kept many of us in the History Department and determined to follow the teachers in doing history, teaching history...

1. In 1974, after graduating from the famous Ngo Quyen High School in Hai Phong city, the young man Nguyen Hai Ke became a student of the 15th course of the History Department of Hanoi University of Science (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi). Unlike many people who were "forced" to enter the History Department (although they later became passionate about history and became famous historians), Nguyen Hai Ke came to history voluntarily. Majoring in Vietnamese Ancient and Medieval History, he was taught, trained, and imparted not only knowledge but also a burning passion by famous teachers of the Department. Graduating with honors, he became a lecturer of the Department and has been attached to the History Department, to the profession of making history, to the profession of being a history teacher since then. After years of his youth devoting himself to the Youth Union movement, in 1987 he was sent to the Soviet Union to study, to do his thesis for Associate Doctorate and then Doctorate.

On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (1973-2013), on the morning of March 19, 2013, the Japan Foundation Center for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam under the Japan International Exchange Fund in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organized an open presentation on the topic: "Japan's new international relations with a focus on the Japan-China-US relationship and the Southeast Asian region".

On March 20, 2013, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a conference to contribute ideas on the Draft Amendment to the 1992 Constitution.

On March 19, 2013, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal of the School received and worked with the delegation of the French Graduate School of Practice led by Prof. Denis Pelletier who visited and discussed cooperation opportunities between the two schools in the future.

The 6th Congress of Vietnam Student Association of University of Social Sciences and Humanities took place on March 16, 2013 with the participation of 195 student delegates.
