The conference heard and discussed the report summarizing the work of the Student Union and student movement during the 5th term (2010-2013) and the direction of work for the 6th term (2013-2015). During the past term, the University's Student Union achieved remarkable results in many areas of activity, contributing to affirming the position, role, and contributions of the Union within the University's political system as well as within the Student Union movement of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Hanoi City Student Union. Specifically, the Union actively implemented the "5 Good Students" campaign among its members and students; maintained effective support and counseling activities for students on learning methods, scientific research skills, and soft skills; participated in activities contributing to improving the quality of education at the University, such as promoting research and the gradual application of the credit-based training model, and participating in promoting student scientific research activities… Develop effective and distinctive professional activity models such as the Young Managers Club, the Classical Chinese and Vietnamese Club, the Film Club, the Young Office Staff Club, Sociology Day, etc.; develop volunteer models linked to professional expertise…

The Student Union also promotes student life counseling and support through various direct activities as well as integrating them into theatrical performances and cultural programs; it implements and participates in many social and volunteer activities, contributing to the community and attracting the enthusiastic participation of a large number of students. Many competitions and activities with creativity and unique characteristics have become trademarks of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Evaluating the activities of the University's Student Union over the past period, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Rector and Secretary of the University's Party Committee – stated: “The Student Union has made efforts to implement many movements and diverse, creative activities, from volunteer movements to the '5 Good Students' movement, the 'January Star' emulation movement, to various forms of professional clubs… The Union has successfully implemented the Resolution of the 5th Congress of the University's Student Union and achieved encouraging results, contributing to the successful fulfillment of the Union's political task of supporting students to study well and train well, making a practical contribution to the building and development of the University.” Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh also emphasized the significant challenges and opportunities in the next term of the Student Union, namely the complex developments in the region and the world, as well as the context of innovation and international integration of Vietnam's higher education. The Rector suggested that the Student Union should focus on and diversify its activities to promote and inspire aspirations, dreams, and ideals in students. As members of a university with a long-standing tradition and many unique values, a leading center for high-quality training and research in social sciences and humanities in the country, students need to recognize their responsibility not only in their personal studies and training but also in addressing major issues of society, the community, and the nation. The Union should be more proactive and creative in implementing various club activities to enhance life skills, integration capabilities, professional expertise, foreign language skills, self-learning methods, and critical thinking skills – all crucial elements for young people to succeed in their personal and professional lives. The Student Union and the Youth Union also need to focus on an important task: contributing to building the unique style and identity of students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – young people with scientific knowledge, critical thinking skills, good character and lifestyle, and a sense of responsibility towards society and the country, representing the Vietnamese intellectual workforce. In addition, the Union needs to develop a plan for staffing at all levels, ensuring practical benefits for its staff so that students can enthusiastically and wholeheartedly contribute to the overall movement.

The Congress awarded certificates of merit at various levels to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the Student Union movement: certificates of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Union to the Executive Committee of the University's Student Union, term V, the Student Volunteer Team, and 5 individuals; certificates of merit from the Hanoi City Student Union to 7 groups and 7 individuals; and certificates of merit from the Vietnam National University, Hanoi Student Union to 7 groups and 7 individuals.
