The 6th Congress of Vietnam Student Association of University of Social Sciences and Humanities took place on March 16, 2013 with the participation of 195 student delegates.Attending the event were Ms. Luong Thi Lich - Chief of Office of Vietnam Student Association, Mr. Ngo Van Thien - Chief of Office of Hanoi Student Association, Mr. Hoang Dinh Luong - Deputy Chief of Office of Hanoi Student Association, Mr. Nguyen Hai Minh - President of VNU Student Association, Mr. Trinh Minh Thai - Vice President of VNU Student Association, Secretary of the Youth Union of USSH. On the University side, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Rector, Secretary of the Party Committee and many representatives of the Party Committee of USSH.
The conference listened to and discussed the Summary Report of the Association's work and the student movement in the fifth term (2010-2013) and the direction of work in the sixth term (2013-2015). In the past term, the Student Association of the University has achieved remarkable results in many aspects of activities, contributing to affirming the position, role and contributions of the Association in the political system of the University as well as in the movement of the VNU Student Association and the Hanoi Student Association. Specifically, the Association has actively deployed the campaign "5 Good Students" to a large number of members and students; maintained well and effectively the activities to support and advise students on methods, skills for studying and scientific research, soft skills; participated in activities contributing to improving the training quality of the University such as promoting research and gradually applying the credit-based training model, participating in promoting student scientific research activities...; Develop effective and unique professional activity models such as the Young Managers Club, the Han Nom Club, the Cinema Club, the Young Office Staff Club, the Sociology Day, etc.; develop volunteer models associated with expertise, etc.
The Student Association also promotes consulting activities to support student life through many direct activities as well as integrating them into theatrical activities and cultural programs; deploying and participating in many social activities, volunteering, joining hands with the community, attracting the participation of a large number of students. Many competitions and creative activities with their own identity have become the brand of students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Assessing the activities of the Student Association of the School in recent times, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh - Principal, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School said: "The Student Association has made great efforts to implement many movements and many types of activities, rich and creative, from volunteer movements to the 5-good student movement, the January Star emulation movement to professional clubs... The Association has well implemented the Resolution of the 5th Congress of the Student Association and achieved encouraging results, contributing to the good implementation of the Association's political task of supporting students to study well, practice well, and make practical contributions to the construction and development of the School". Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh also emphasized the great challenges and opportunities in the upcoming term of the Student Association, which are the complicated developments of the regional and world situation as well as the context of innovation and international integration of Vietnam's higher education. Prof. The Principal suggested that the Association should focus and diversify in many forms to promote, arouse ambitions, dreams and ideals in students. As a member of a university with a long tradition and many unique values, a leading center for training and research in social sciences and humanities in the country, students of the University need to see their responsibility not only in their personal learning and training but also in many major issues of society, community and country. The Association needs to be more proactive and creative in implementing club forms to improve life skills, integration capacity, professional qualifications, foreign languages, self-study methods, thinking methods... - the most important factors today for young people to be successful in establishing themselves and their careers. The Student Association and the Youth Union also need to pay attention to an important task of contributing to building the style and unique identity of students of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities - young people with scientific knowledge, thinking methods, good personality and lifestyle, responsible for society and the country, representing the Vietnamese intellectuals. In addition, the Association also needs to have a plan to develop cadres at all levels, pay attention to ensuring practical benefits for the Association's cadres so that students can enthusiastically and wholeheartedly contribute to the common movement.
The Congress awarded certificates of merit at all levels to individuals and groups with outstanding achievements in the Student Association movement: certificates of merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Student Association to the Executive Committee of the Student Association of the School, Term V, the Volunteer Student Team and 05 individuals; certificates of merit from the Hanoi Student Association to 07 groups and 07 individuals, certificates of merit from the VNU Student Association to 07 groups and 07 individuals. The Congress approved the direction and tasks of the Association's work and the student movement for the term VI (2013-2015) with the slogan of action "Creativity - Connection - Reaching out", elected 21 members of the Executive Committee of the Student Association of the School, Term VI, elected delegates to attend the Congress of the Vietnam Student Association of VNU for the term 2013-2018.
