This morning, March 15, 2013, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi organized a meeting for all union officials throughout the university to provide feedback on the draft amendments to the 1992 Constitution. Many practical suggestions were expressed at the meeting, and some opinions were submitted in writing, demonstrating the concern of the university's trade union officials for this important political task. The opinions expressed by the Trade Union officials at the conference unanimously agreed on the necessity of amending the 1992 Constitution. In addition, the opinions also pointed out limitations and shortcomings of the draft amendment, such as: the preamble is cumbersome and the writing style is not appropriate for a legally binding document like the Constitution; some articles are too short (Article 21) and need to be clarified; the terminology used in the Constitution is inconsistent across articles and clauses, for example, some use "as prescribed by law" while others use "as stipulated by law"... Some content is repetitive and should be merged and rephrased. Overall, the draft needs further investment. Through the conference, the contributions to the draft amendment of the 1992 Constitution demonstrated the high spirit and sense of responsibility of the School's Trade Union officials towards the country's overall political tasks. Also at this conference, the School's Trade Union Executive Committee organized a consultation on the draft regulations for the "Fund to Support Staff and Faculty." The delegates unanimously agreed with the plan to establish the Fund and provided detailed feedback on the draft. According to the plan, in April 2013, the School's Trade Union will implement a plan to mobilize all staff and faculty members to contribute to the Fund in order to share and help colleagues in particularly difficult circumstances.
