On March 22, 2011, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a conference on "Training in the Transition to Credit-Based Training" in Ba Vi, Hanoi. The conference summarized and evaluated the activities of non-formal training programs and outlined future directions and tasks.Nearly 20 opinions were contributed and exchanged at the conference on key issues: applying the positive aspects of credit-based training to part-time university education, the organization and implementation of part-time training according to the credit-based training framework, foreign language teaching, national defense and security education, training facilities, tuition fees at off-campus institutions, teaching remuneration, and the implementation of short-term certificate training at various units… Dr. Tran Ngoc Lieu - Head of the Training Department - particularly emphasized the application of the positive aspects of the credit-based training method to part-time university education such as: building a more concise training program, developing a set of learning materials, organizing the teaching process according to course syllabi, and conducting synchronized and compliant testing and evaluation… Notably, the graduation exam using alternative subjects is a new point that needs to be applied to part-time university education and will be considered a mandatory regulation in the 2010 academic year. 2011. Along with that, representatives from various Faculties/Departments also presented papers on the current state of non-formal training and solutions to improve the quality of part-time training in each unit. The Faculty of Archival Studies and Office Management made recommendations to improve the quality and effectiveness of non-formal training: the need to systematically issue documents related to non-formal training, increase payment for teaching, invest in promotion, and seek partners… The summary report on non-formal training by the Training Department highlighted important results in non-formal training. At the same time, it pointed out some shortcomings such as increasingly limited training quotas and enrollment, and certain limitations in training organization and management: the implementation of training plans in many units is not reasonable and effective, teaching hours are not guaranteed, and the part-time program only applies the positive aspects of credit in the teaching process; The tuition fee collection process still faces many obstacles. The report outlines the following specific directions and tasks for the coming period: Regarding student recruitment: According to the new regulations in 2010, student recruitment only takes place in two periods per year, April and October. Furthermore, according to the National University's policy, student recruitment for part-time/evening programs will decrease in the coming years. Therefore, attention should be paid to selection methods such as: partners, training programs, advertising strategies, and prioritizing transfer programs. Along with this, short-term certificate training programs should be promoted both within and outside the university. Faculties/Departments need to develop several short-term programs suitable to their training specializations. In addition, this conference also discussed the draft guidelines for organizing non-formal training programs at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, addressing specific issues such as student recruitment, training organization, and graduation and certificate issuance.
