The emulation summary conference of the Block of agencies, schools and enterprises under the Hanoi Veterans Association in 2009 took place on November 6 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The emulation summary conference of the Block of agencies, schools and enterprises under the Hanoi Veterans Association in 2009 took place on November 6 at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The main content of the Conference is to evaluate the results of the work of building and operating the Association of War Veterans in the sectors of agencies, enterprises, and enterprises under the City Association in 2009; to review and evaluate the emulation between units in sectors and clusters; and to evaluate the 5-year emulation movement (2004 - 2009) launched by the Central Association of War Veterans.

The conference heard a report on the results of the Association's activities in 2009 in the following aspects: political ideology, building the Association's organization, inspection work, taking care of members' lives, participating in Party and government building, and performing professional tasks...

In the emulation evaluation in 2009, 13/21 units were proposed to be classified as excellent, including the Association of War Veterans of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In the summary of 5 years of the emulation movement, delegates unanimously proposed to award the Emulation Flag to the Association of War Veterans of the Hanoi University of Commerce and the Certificate of Merit from the Central Association of War Veterans of Vietnam to the Association of War Veterans of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

* Summary of some achievements of the Association of War Veterans of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 5-year emulation movement (2004-2009)

- Ideological work: As the current Association, the work of political and ideological education for members has the advantage of combining with organizations and authorities in implementing the Party's policies and guidelines for members regularly and promptly. Not only studying to improve their own awareness, each cadre, Party member and member also participates in research and teaching in social sciences and humanities, thereby contributing to political and ideological education and cultivating moral qualities for the younger generation.

- Professional work: The Association identifies this as the most important task in the work. Many members are holding key leadership positions in the school and its units. The Association has 69 members, including 2 PhDs, 34 PhDs, 12 Masters, 2 Professors, and 27 Associate Professors. The Association has 60 Party members, many of whom hold important positions in the Party Committee and the government. Therefore, the Association has the opportunity to participate in contributing to the development of major resolutions and policies of the Party Committee and the School, contributing to the successful completion of the school year's tasks.

From 2004 to present, there have been 331 members participating in scientific research, including 08 state-level topics and 52 key topics. Members have completed their teaching tasks well, participating in compiling many books, textbooks, and lectures. Some comrades are heads of research topics, editors of publications on local history and geography, participating in research topics on Hanoi and programs celebrating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long.

- Achievements in teaching and work: Since its establishment, the School's Veterans Association has had 15 members defend their PhD theses, 15 members defend their master's theses, 04 members receive the title of Distinguished Lecturer, 02 members are awarded the title of Professor, 27 members are awarded the title of Associate Professor, 10 members are awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, 18 members are awarded the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit...

- Participating in educating the younger generation: typical activities of the Association such as: exhibition of images and artifacts about the struggle of former soldiers imprisoned in Phu Quoc prison; coordinating with VTV to organize the exchange: "A time of fire and flowers"; exchange with military writers participating in the resistance war against the US...; compiling and publishing the book "Remaining with time" which is highly appreciated by public opinion.

- Participate in social activities: organize visits and give gifts to the nursing centers for seriously ill soldiers in Thuan Thanh - Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, SOS village Hanoi, participate in fundraising to support flood victims, victims of Agent Orange, support warm clothes for children in mountainous areas...
