The conference summarizing the emulation campaign of the bloc of agencies, schools, and enterprises under the Hanoi Veterans Association in 2009 took place on November 6th at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The conference summarizing the emulation campaign of the bloc of agencies, schools, and enterprises under the Hanoi Veterans Association in 2009 took place on November 6th at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The main agenda of the Conference was to evaluate the results of the work and activities of the Veterans Association of the State Agencies, State-owned Enterprises, and Businesses under the City Association in 2009; to review and evaluate the emulation among units by block and cluster; and to evaluate the five-year emulation movement (2004-2009) launched by the Central Veterans Association.

The conference heard reports on the Association's activities in 2009 in various areas: political and ideological work, organizational development, inspection work, caring for members' well-being, participation in Party and government building, and the performance of professional duties…

In the 2009 emulation review, 13 out of 21 units were recommended for excellent ratings, including the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In the summary of the five-year emulation movement, delegates unanimously recommended awarding the Emulation Flag to the Veterans Association of Hanoi University of Commerce and a Certificate of Merit from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Veterans Association to the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

* Summary of some achievements of the Veterans Association of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 5-year emulation movement (2004-2009)

- Ideological work: As a currently active association, the political and ideological education of its members is facilitated by collaboration with other organizations and the government in regularly and promptly implementing the Party's policies and guidelines. In addition to improving their own awareness through learning, each cadre, Party member, and association member also participates in research and teaching in social sciences and humanities, thereby contributing to political and ideological education and fostering moral character in the younger generation.

- Professional work: The Association identifies this as its top priority. Many members hold key leadership positions within the university and its units. The Association has 69 members, including 2 Doctors of Science, 34 Doctors, 12 Masters, 2 Professors, and 27 Associate Professors. 60 members are Party members, many holding important positions in the Party Committee and the administration. Therefore, the Association is well-positioned to contribute to the development of major resolutions and policies of the Party Committee and the University, helping to successfully complete the academic year's tasks.

From 2004 to the present, 331 members have participated in scientific research, including 8 state-level projects and 52 key projects. Members have performed well in teaching, and have contributed to the compilation of numerous books, textbooks, and lecture notes. Some members have served as project leaders, editors of publications on local history and geography, and participated in research projects on Hanoi and programs commemorating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long.

- Achievements in teaching and work: Since its establishment, the Veterans Association of the University has had 15 members defend doctoral dissertations, 15 members defend master's dissertations, 4 members awarded the title of Excellent Teacher, 2 members appointed as professors, 27 members appointed as associate professors, 10 members awarded the Third Class Labor Medal, and 18 members awarded Certificates of Merit from the Prime Minister…

- Participating in the education of the younger generation: typical activities of the Association include: exhibiting images and artifacts about the struggle of former soldiers imprisoned at Phu Quoc prison; coordinating with Vietnam Television to organize the exchange program: "A Time of Fiery Flowers"; exchanging ideas with military writers who participated in the resistance against the US...; compiling and publishing the book "Remaining with Time," which was highly appreciated by the public.

- Participating in social activities: organizing visits and giving gifts to centers caring for severely wounded and disabled soldiers in Thuan Thanh - Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Phu Tho, SOS Village Hanoi; participating in fundraising to support people affected by floods and storms, victims of Agent Orange, donating warm clothes to children in mountainous areas, etc.

  • The School's Veterans Association has consistently performed its duties excellently, being ranked as an outstanding unit for seven consecutive years.
