The figures reflecting the activities of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in the 2008-2009 academic year are extracted from the Report on the implementation of work in the 2008-2009 academic year and the direction and tasks for the 2009-2010 academic year at the Conference of Faculty and Staff Delegates of the University on October 24, 2009.
1. Personnel management
- The university has 14 faculties, 1 affiliated department, 12 research centers, 8 functional departments, a Training Quality Assurance Center, and an Anthropology Museum.
- Total number of staff: 488, including 351 teaching staff and 137 administrative staff.
- The teaching staff consists of 351, including 6 professors and 57 associate professors (17.9%); the number of people with postgraduate qualifications is 280 (79.7%), including 129 PhDs and Doctors of Science (36.7%) and 151 Master's degree holders.
- The average age of the teaching staff is 39.9.
- 30 new staff members were recruited, including 26 lecturers.
- Two teachers were awarded the title of People's Teacher and four teachers were awarded the title of Excellent Teacher.
- 120 officials were sent abroad for teaching, studying, and research, including 32 officials currently pursuing doctoral studies and 4 officials pursuing master's studies overseas.
- Awards:
- 62 Outstanding Labor Collective titles, 43 Advanced Labor Collective titles.
- 418 individuals were recognized as outstanding workers, including 129 individuals who were outstanding workers at the grassroots level, 25 individuals who were outstanding workers at the Vietnam National University level, and 5 individuals who were outstanding workers at the ministerial level.
- Four groups and three individuals received commendations from the Prime Minister.
- One individual received the Second Class Labor Medal.
- Two collectives and six individuals received the Third-Class Labor Medal.
2. University education, student affairs, and inspection work.
- University admissions: 1509 full-time students, 957 part-time students.
- Enrollment for the second cohort of the "2+2" international joint training program: 39 Chinese students.
- Enrollment for the first cohort of the International Linguistics program: 19 students, including 3 international students.
- Graduation certificates awarded to 1120 students of the QH-2005-X cohort (0.2% Excellent, 15.7% Good, 68.9% Fair, 15.2% Average).
- Graduation from non-formal education program: 967 students (1.2% Excellent, 55.3% Good, 42.5% Above Average, 0.9% Average)
- International students: 517
- 1073 students received academic achievement scholarships.
- 234 students received scholarship funding.
- 488 students from impoverished families received tuition fee reductions.
3. Postgraduate training and scientific research
- New enrollments: 683 postgraduate students and 54 doctoral candidates.
- Master's degree training increased by 22.4%.
- Doctoral training increased by 42.1%.
- The scale of postgraduate training accounts for over 25% of the total scale of regular training.
- 29 doctoral training programs, including one program that meets international standards.
- 30 master's degree programs, including 1 internationally recognized program, 3 programs in collaboration with the University of Toulouse II, and 1 domestic program in collaboration with a university.
- We have been developing and are currently developing the following programs: Master of Social Work, Master of Management Science, and Doctor of Archival Studies.
- Completed 5 state-level projects and 81 projects at other levels.
- 97 research projects at various levels were approved, and phase II research contracts were signed for 46 projects.
- Organized 20 scientific workshops and seminars, including 13 international workshops.
- Sixty-five papers were presented at conferences.
- 10% of all students in the university participated in student research in 2008.
- 19% of all students in the university participated in scientific research in 2009.
4. International cooperation
- Signed 11 more cooperation agreements with foreign partners.
- Implementing 03 new international projects: Religious Studies (in collaboration with the Missio Aachen Institute, Federal Republic of Germany), Policy Research and Analysis (with the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation) and a Master's program in Hotel Management (with the University of Toulouse II).
5. Political and ideological work
- Seventeen officials and 43 students were admitted to the Party.
