Opening of the series of events on American Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

In keeping with the celebratory atmosphere of 80 years of tradition and 30 years of development, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the US Embassy in Vietnam, officially launched a series of events on American Studies to practically commemorate the important anniversaries of both countries.
2025 marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the United States, a milestone marked by remarkable progress in bilateral relations. In particular, the upgrading of relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2023 is a crucial prerequisite for the development of exchanges at various levels.
As a school with a long and rich tradition, always accompanying the development of the country, established by a decree signed by President Ho Chi Minh in October 1945, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, is proud to continue its mission of contributing to the development of education in Vietnam today through actively participating in the country's international integration process. This includes strengthening friendly relations between the people of Vietnam and the United States in particular, and with countries around the world in general, to promote mutual understanding and trust. Organizing a series of activities on American Studies at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a concrete contribution to the relationship between the two countries.
Attending the opening ceremony were Ms. Courtney Beale, Deputy Ambassador of the U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Vietnam, and representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Thanh Nam - Chairman of the University Council of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, represented the University, along with leaders of various departments and the Faculty of International Studies. The opening ceremony was attended by a large number of lecturers and students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy, Hanoi University, and the Academy of Journalism and Communication.

The series of events on American Studies includes the following activities:
1. The "Learn About America" ​​contestTo commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States, this competition is open to university students. The aim is to further spread interest in learning about the United States and its people among Vietnamese youth, especially university students, as well as to enhance understanding and foster a pioneering spirit, ready to contribute to strengthening the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and the United States.
The competition featured four teams from leading universities in Hanoi: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi; the Academy of Journalism and Communication; the Diplomatic Academy; and Hanoi University.
The competition consists of three rounds: an overview and in-depth study of the United States; and an English-language public speaking competition on the Vietnam-US relationship.
Time: from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM on November 25, 2025
Location: Auditorium on the 8th floor of Building E - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi

2. Training course for students and faculty on American Studies
The training program will take place onDecember 5-6, 2025with the participation of students and lecturers from universities in Hanoi, Thai Nguyen, Hue, Da Nang and Ho Chi Minh City…
The training program aims to update knowledge in American Studies through lectures and practical exercises in designing content for several specialized topics, guided in detail by American professors with extensive international teaching experience.
In addition, the training course aims to strengthen the network of educational institutions and scientists in the field of American Studies, with the goal of developing unified learning materials on American Studies across relevant educational institutions.
