The dissertation topic "Research on the development trends of television from the perspective of media economics" by PhD candidate Bui Chi Trung, majoring in Journalism, was defended at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on March 23, 2012.
The dissertation topic "Research on the development trends of television from the perspective of media economics" by PhD candidate Bui Chi Trung, majoring in Journalism, was defended at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on March 23, 2012.The dissertation researched and analyzed the main development trends of the Vietnamese television system currently and in the future. The research results have initially provided academic concepts on media economics and the field of television within the mass media system. In particular, the dissertation contributed to affirming the ability to apply media economics theory in practice, offering insights into development trends and practical issues for the development of the Vietnamese television industry. Regarding the dissertation, Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Duc Dung (reviewer 1) commented that the dissertation addressed a relatively new issue: the development trends of television in the coming years; and simultaneously outlined a new model for television economics in Vietnam. The dissertation also mentioned specific solutions to improve the economic efficiency of television in the new context. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (reviewer 2) commented that the dissertation had summarized the development process of the Vietnamese television industry from the perspective of media economics. At the same time, the dissertation also assessed the difficulties and shortcomings, as well as the opportunities and challenges facing Vietnamese television. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong also noted that some statements in the dissertation needed to be proven, analyzed more specifically and clearly. Other opinions from members of the council assessed the dissertation's results as contributing to the development of television not only in terms of content but also in other aspects: strategy, technology, organization, management, business... The result was 6 out of 7 members of the dissertation evaluation council rated it as excellent. This is the first state-level doctoral dissertation of the Faculty of Journalism and Communication, University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The dissertation will be a useful reference for managers and those working in the field of television, especially those interested in the relatively new field of television economics.
