In 2021, the Vietnamese Government issued the National Strategy on Gender Equality for the period 2021-2030, aiming to further narrow the gender gap in many areas, including education and training. Recognizing the importance of promoting a favorable environment where both women and men can participate in and benefit from all aspects of academic careers, the Australian Volunteer Program has awarded the “Impact Effectiveness Grant 2023-2024” to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to support female lecturers and researchers in member units, affiliated units, offices, and functional departments with the following objectives:
- Increase the number of women holding key leadership and management positions;
- Increase the scientific research output of female lecturers and researchers.
- Reduce the time burden women have to spend on unpaid caregiving.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities will organize a series of exchange and experience-sharing sessions, including: Exchange and sharing of experiences to enhance management and leadership capacity in scientific research (scheduled for mid-November 2023); Exchange and sharing of experiences to promote scientific research activities (scheduled for mid-February 2024).
Female lecturers and researchers in member units, affiliated units, offices, and functional departments may register to participate in one or both of the above-mentioned exchange and experience-sharing sessions by the deadline.

Regarding the Exchange and Sharing of Experiences to Promote Scientific Research Activities- Ten female lecturers and researchers will be selected to participate in a two-day exchange and experience-sharing program on publishing scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals. Participants will receive guidance and support from a team of mentors consisting of experienced researchers with a proven track record of scientific publications in prestigious journals. This will help them write and refine their scientific papers in English for international publication.
- Following the general exchange of experiences, members will have further individual discussions with mentors to enhance the quality of their manuscripts and meet the criteria for scientific publications in peer-reviewed international journals.
- The project will provide financial support to participating members with young children (1 million VND/member/month, for at least 2 months) to encourage female lecturers and researchers to actively participate in and complete the experience exchange activities.
- Selection criteria:+ Doctoral degree or equivalent qualification;
+ Having children under 16 years old;
+ Have at least one scientific article published in a peer-reviewed international journal, or one chapter in a monograph written in a foreign language and published by a foreign publisher with an ISBN number;
+ Registered participants will submit a draft abstract of their scientific paper (no need for completion), with a maximum length of 200 words, in English. Selected participants will further develop this draft into a full paper of up to 8,000 words, in English, and submit it before the experience-sharing session takes place in mid-February 2024.
