In today's era, when the pressure from the development of information technology and the competition for soft power between nations is increasing, the recognition and correct understanding of the strength of the nation - people becomes an urgent requirement. This is the time when the community and the nation must face new challenges and responsibilities, and the "key" to successfully affirming its position is the internal strength of the "Vietnamese entity" - an independent entity, with its own characteristics that can be distinguished from other "entities" / nations - peoples. And, to determine the unique attributes of what we call the "Vietnamese entity", a multidisciplinary approach is needed, synthesizing knowledge of economics - politics - society, history - ideology - philosophy, culture - literature..., throughout history.
In recent years, interdisciplinary research has become an inevitable trend of social sciences and humanities. The outstanding advantages of looking at the object from many different aspects make the interdisciplinary research method especially suitable when reflecting on the "Vietnamese entity", which had at least ten medieval centuries of development in a state of undifferentiated literature - history - philosophy.
On the occasion of the book series "Vietnamese Entity Seen from Word Coordinates - Interdisciplinary Approach" (Hanoi National University Publishing House, 2025) by Prof. Dr. Tran Ngoc Vuong, part of the Social Sciences and Humanities Library, the Faculty of Literature organized a discussion with the theme "Vietnamese Entity Seen from Word Coordinates - Interdisciplinary Approach". Coming to the discussion, speakers, guests and readers will have the opportunity to discuss the trend of interdisciplinary research in social sciences and humanities in order to sketch a comprehensive picture of the national and ethnic entity throughout history.
