On the morning of March 17, 2012, at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Professor Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi) gave a presentation on the topic "Vietnam's Sovereignty over the Archipelagos in the East Sea". This presentation was part of the regular scientific activity program organized by the Center for Intercultural and Historical Studies of the Faculty of History.Attending the presentation were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hang (former Rector of the University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu (Vice Rector), faculty members, students from the History Department, and representatives from several other departments within and outside the university… For over three hours, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc provided material and written historical documents – scientific and objective historical evidence – the result of many years of research by himself and many other scientists to highlight content related to several issues: - The gradual process of conquering the East Sea - Establishing sovereignty through the activities of the Hoang Sa and Bac Hai fleets - Affirming and enforcing sovereignty through the activities of the Nguyen Dynasty's naval forces - The issue of sovereignty in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa during the French colonial period - Vietnam's sovereignty in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa: Current situation and challenges. All historical documents are solid and reliable evidence confirming Vietnam's undeniable and irrefutable sovereignty over the two archipelagos of Truong Sa. and the Paracel Islands in particular and the South China Sea in general.

The presentation and subsequent discussions highlighted, on the one hand, the need for in-depth, multidisciplinary research programs combining various scientific fields and disciplines in the study of maritime sovereignty in particular and territorial sovereignty in general. On the other hand, a national strategy is needed to disseminate scientific documents establishing sovereignty and to instill patriotism in all generations of Vietnamese people. Vietnam's sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos is sacred and undeniable by everyone and every power!
