The Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) was separated from the Trade Union of Hanoi University and officially became a grassroots trade union under the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi in 1995. Over 17 years of operation and 6 General Assemblies, the University's Trade Union has become increasingly well-organized, its activities more effective, and its membership growing. Currently, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has 460 members, organized into 19 departmental unions, including 5 professors, 70 associate professors, and 140 doctors and doctors of science. Throughout its operation, the University's Trade Union has always received attention and guidance from the Vietnam Education Trade Union and the Hanoi National University Trade Union, as well as the direct leadership of the University's Party Committee and the close cooperation of the Board of Directors and other political and social organizations. This has created favorable conditions for the Trade Union to organize activities effectively and practically, contributing to the successful fulfillment of the University's political tasks.

This has created favorable conditions for the Trade Union to organize activities effectively and practically, contributing to the successful fulfillment of the University's political tasks. In the context of the difficult income situation for staff at the University in particular and the education sector in general, especially for young staff and those with low incomes, the University's Trade Union Executive Committee has identified the important task of caring for the material and spiritual well-being of staff and employees to ensure their peace of mind, enthusiasm, and responsibility in their work. A noticeable achievement at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is that in recent years, the University's Trade Union Executive Committee has coordinated with the Board of Directors to balance funding to increase the number of offices and equipment, ensuring that research, teaching, and learning for both faculty and students achieve increasingly higher quality. As a result, the working and teaching environment for staff and employees, and the learning and practical skills training environment for students, have significantly improved. Along with improving working conditions, the Trade Union always prioritizes protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its staff and employees. The trade union closely cooperates with the school in inspecting and monitoring to ensure the correct, complete, timely, and fair implementation of policies and regulations regarding salaries, bonuses, sick leave allowances, insurance benefits, and teaching allowances. Additional income is increasingly being implemented more closely and appropriately to the effectiveness of each individual's contribution according to their position. In addition, the trade union also pays attention to and creates favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms, time, and funding for staff and employees to receive training and professional development to improve their political, professional, and technical skills. Activities to care for the material well-being of union members are also implemented in various forms, such as organizing gift-giving on holidays and festivals, visiting and providing timely support when staff, employees, or their relatives face difficulties in life. Besides coordinating with the relevant authorities to promptly and accurately resolve issues related to policies and regulations for all union members, the implementation of political and ideological work is also emphasized. Through various organizational forms, the Trade Union has instilled in its members a sense of pride in a school rich in tradition, in the teaching profession, and in a heroic nation. Many emulation movements have been launched, such as combating the pursuit of superficial achievements in education; promoting "Learning and following the moral example of Ho Chi Minh"; reforming higher education management during the 2010-2012 period; "Excelling in schoolwork and managing household responsibilities" among female staff; and promoting the building of cultural life at the grassroots level and the creation of culturally exemplary families of educators. Or, activities such as "Returning to the roots" have been organized, such as visiting the martyrs' cemeteries at Truong Son, Highway 9, and Quang Tri Citadel; and visiting the localities where staff and students were evacuated during the years of the war against the US. In particular, the Trade Union's activities have always paid attention to women's affairs. The Trade Union, in coordination with the school, has fully and promptly implemented policies for female staff. The union focuses on improving the material well-being of its members, creating all conditions for them to study and enhance their professional skills and expertise. This includes organizing and encouraging annual health check-ups for staff; cultural and sports activities such as cooking competitions, football matches, and cultural festivals on major holidays; and encouraging and facilitating departmental unions to organize trips and vacations for staff during summer and holiday breaks to create a relaxed working atmosphere and provide practical knowledge for employees. Practical experience shows that, to effectively fulfill the function of ensuring the rights and interests of staff, the union and its officials need to focus on the following tasks: - Thoroughly implement the work plan set forth by the Executive Committee at each General Assembly. - Identify the well-being of union members as one of the top priorities of union work, making each member consider the union as their second home. Trade union officials must truly be comrades, colleagues, and close friends who understand the circumstances and feelings of their colleagues. They need to advise and coordinate closely with the school in assigning tasks, ensuring the right person is in the right job, creating favorable conditions for union members to both perform their professional duties well at school and have the opportunity to take care of their families so they can work and contribute effectively; they need to advise the school on promptly resolving issues related to policies such as sick leave, maternity leave, and other policies to ensure fairness in labor and encourage union members to work actively. They need to coordinate effectively between the Trade Union Executive Committee and the School Board in implementing the activities of the Trade Union in particular and the school in general. Thanks to its effective work in caring for the lives and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of its staff, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has, over the years, actively contributed to stabilizing morale, helping staff feel secure in their work, and fostering greater commitment to the University. This, in turn, enables them to wholeheartedly dedicate themselves to the building, development, and enhancement of the University's standing, as well as to the national education and training system.
