Meeting with the Deputy Ambassador of the Singapore Embassy in Hanoi.

On April 8, 2014, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and held a working meeting with Mr. Raymond Chow (Counselor and Deputy Ambassador) and Ms. Thang Thuc Ky (First Secretary) of the Embassy of the Republic of Singapore in Hanoi. Also present at the meeting was Mr. Tran Diep Thanh, Deputy Head of the Department of External Relations and International Training Cooperation.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed important topics in the political, economic, and cultural relations of Southeast Asia in particular and the international community in general, such as Vietnam's policy in promoting cooperation within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Singapore's role in strengthening solidarity among ASEAN countries, and the impact of countries outside ASEAN such as the United States and China on internal development…

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh believes that all ASEAN countries have a role and aspiration to contribute to the bloc's unity and ensure equitable development among members. As Counselor of the Singapore Embassy in Hanoi, Mr. Raymond Chow fully agrees with these observations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

      

 

 

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh discusses Vietnam's policy in its relations with other countries.

Mr. Raymond Chow also discussed several opportunities for cooperation between Singaporean and Vietnamese universities, such as the National University of Singapore with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, through short-term and long-term courses. Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh welcomed Mr. Raymond Chow's proposals and affirmed that these collaborations would contribute to strengthening bilateral relations between Singapore and Vietnam, as well as intra-ASEAN cooperation.

Singapore is known to be the largest foreign direct investor in Vietnam among ASEAN countries and the second largest investor in Asia, after Japan.
