School Union awards scholarships to students of Hoang Nong Primary School
On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the school's tradition, on September 29, 2015, the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU, led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Xuan Khang - Chairman of the Trade Union of the school, returned to Dai Tu (Thai Nguyen) to express gratitude to the staff and people here who wholeheartedly helped the school during the years of resistance against the US to save the country.
During this working trip, in order to encourage and promote the learning spirit of the students here, the delegation of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities directly visited and awarded scholarships to disadvantaged students of two primary schools in Dai Tu district with a total of 140 scholarships, each worth 200,000 VND. Of which, Hoang Nong Primary School received 70 scholarships, Van Tho Primary School received 70 scholarships and 1,100 notebooks and 200 ballpoint pens. In addition, the delegation also prepared 6 boxes of candy as gifts for the students of Hoang Nong and Van Tho primary schools to celebrate with their teachers on this occasion.
Talking with the leaders of the two primary schools, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Xuan Khang, Chairman of the Trade Union of the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, expressed his deep gratitude to the cadres and people of Van Tho commune, Dai Tu district, for their protection and wholehearted support for the teachers and students of the school to overcome difficult years to successfully complete their teaching and learning tasks. At the same time, he also directly invited representatives of the Van Tho commune leaders to attend the grand ceremony celebrating the 70th anniversary of tradition and 20th anniversary of the establishment of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on October 6, 2015 at the National Convention Center.
The School Union donated 1,000 notebooks and 200 pens to Van Tho Primary School.
Unable to hide his joy and honor when welcoming the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Mr. Nguyen Van Am, Principal of Van Tho Primary School, thanked the Board of Directors and all members of the School's Trade Union for their concern for Van Tho students and looked forward to welcoming the delegation from the School in the future.
Next, the delegation from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities visited and talked with the leaders of the People's Committee of Van Tho commune. Here, the delegation had the opportunity to look back at the images of teachers and lecturers of the school during the previous evacuation. Those students have now become high-ranking leaders of the state and Hanoi such as General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Phung Huu Phu, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Quang Nghi, etc.
With the outstanding achievements of teachers and students, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi was honored to receive the title of Labor Hero and the Ho Chi Minh Medal from the President.
In November 2005, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong visited and planted a memorial tree at the People's Committee of Van Tho commune, where he had studied during the evacuation.
50 years ago, when the US imperialists conducted the first air and naval war to destroy the North (1965-1968). To avoid the devastation caused by the war, Hanoi University of Science, the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, evacuated to Van Tho commune, Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen to continue teaching and learning. Thanks to the dedicated help of the staff and people here, teachers and students overcame difficult years to complete their work well.
