Comrade Pham Hoang Giang is reporting to the Congress the Party Committee's self-assessment report for the 2013-2015 term.
On March 16, 2015, the Party Branch of the Philosophy Department held its Party Branch Congress for the 2015-2017 term. Attending the congress were Comrade Nguyen Van Kim, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University, along with all the Party members of the Branch.
The Congress listened to the report summarizing the work of the Party branch during the 2013-2015 term and the work plan for the 2015-2017 term. Besides the achievements in political and ideological work, during the past term (2013-2015), the Philosophy Department Party branch achieved many important accomplishments in personnel development, creating important foundations for the development of the Party branch in the next term.
The 2013-2015 term saw organizational and personnel changes within the Philosophy Department's Party Branch, as the Center for Training Political Theory Lecturers merged with the Department. However, thanks to the close, timely, and effective guidance of the Party Committee and the Department's Board of Directors, and the unity and dedication of the department's staff, the department maintained strong unity and consensus, facilitating the rapid integration of new staff members.
The Faculty Party Committee has done a good job in developing personnel plans. Based on the training program and teaching tasks for each subject, the Faculty Party Committee has promptly proposed additional staff positions when staff retire, ensuring the correct procedures and principles of democratic centralism, openness, and transparency.
The Party Committee and the Faculty Board in the past term have implemented many policies to encourage and create opportunities for staff, especially young staff, to study both domestically and internationally, improving their professional skills and foreign language proficiency. As a result, in the past term, the Faculty has had 3 more staff members recognized as Associate Professors, and 3 staff members successfully defended their doctoral dissertations. Currently, the Faculty has 2 staff members pursuing doctoral studies abroad and 5 staff members pursuing doctoral studies domestically; this will be an important pool of future leaders.
In addition to achievements in personnel management, the Faculty Party Branch has also achieved many successes in training and scientific research activities.
Regarding training activities, the Party Committee, the Party Branch, the Faculty Board, and the Scientific Council have adjusted the undergraduate training programs for both standard and high-quality programs according to output standards using the credit-based training method. The Faculty has also opened a new postgraduate program in Religious Studies (both Master's and Doctoral levels; doctoral students will begin enrollment this year, 2015).
Regarding scientific research activities of faculty and students, there have been many new developments. During the past term, the Faculty successfully organized two conferences, one national and one international. The Faculty compiled 18 textbooks, including publishing 3 textbooks, 3 monographs, and 1 conference proceedings; co-authored and published 5 thematic books and 9 study guides; and published nearly 50 articles in domestic and international scientific journals and conference proceedings. The Faculty successfully completed 1 special research project at the Vietnam National University, 1 project at the city level, 3 research projects at the Vietnam National University, and 3 projects at the university level. Student scientific research activities have been maintained with approximately 40 reports per year, and the quality has improved. The Faculty as a whole won second prize at the university level for student scientific research.

Comrade Nguyen Van Kim, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Deputy Principal of the school, delivered a speech at the Congress.
Delivering a guiding speech at the congress, Comrade Nguyen Van Kim, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University, emphasized: The Philosophy Faculty Party Branch is one of the large Party branches, playing an important role in the development of the University. During the past term, the Faculty Party Branch has strongly integrated into the overall development of the University. To continue to promote its role and position, in the coming period, the Faculty Party Branch needs to focus on the following key tasks:
Philosophy is a field closely intertwined with the life and politics of society and the country, especially in the present time. Therefore, the Faculty Party Branch needs to recognize that political and ideological work plays a crucial, pioneering role in all activities. This is a prerequisite for building a strong, united, and cohesive team.
As a leading center for social sciences and humanities training in the country, the Philosophy Department Party Branch needs to be a pioneer in the field of training, organizing interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary training programs, offering not only philosophy training but also other specialized fields such as religious studies; offering postgraduate training in addition to bachelor's degrees; and alongside standard regular training, investing in the development of high-quality programs aimed at improving the quality of student outcomes.
In the coming period, the Faculty Party Branch needs to focus on building a system of documents, textbooks, syllabi, lectures, and a system of reference materials and monographs. The Faculty Party Branch should organize a professional council to evaluate outdated textbooks that are no longer relevant to current knowledge, in order to propose solutions for updating and revising them to ensure their suitability.
Furthermore, the Faculty Party Branch should also focus on developing documents that reflect the typical and distinctive characteristics of the Faculty. This plays a crucial role in building the Faculty's brand and promoting its image.
Furthermore, building a strong team is a key strategy. "The Faculty Party Branch must clearly recognize the need for a team of excellent cadres and leading experts in the field of Philosophy in Vietnam. Investing in and attracting this team is a vital factor in the development of the Faculty Party Branch in the upcoming term," Comrade Nguyen Van Kim emphasized.
The Congress also voted to elect the new Party Committee for the 2015-2017 term, consisting of 5 members: Comrade Nguyen Huu Thu (Secretary), Comrade Pham Hoang Giang (Deputy Secretary), Comrade Nguyen Thuy Van, Comrade Tran Thi Dieu, and Comrade Nguyen Quang Hung (Party Committee members).
