The University of Social Sciences and Humanities supports students in the flood-affected area of ​​Mu Cang Chai.

On August 24th, a delegation from the school visited and presented gifts to the teachers and students of Mu Cang Chai High School in Yen Bai province, which suffered heavy damage after the historic flash flood.

Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim – Secretary of the Party Committee and Head of the working group – representing all staff and faculty of the University, personally presented a gift of 50 million VND, 20 sets of textbooks, and several valuable books to the teachers and students of Mu Cang Chai High School. This is the initial result of a fundraising campaign launched by the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to support teachers and students in flood-affected areas of Yen Bai province, helping them prepare for the new school year 2017.

Mr. Dang Quang Khanh – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Bai province, and Mr. Vu Van Tien – Principal of Mu Cang Chai High School, also informed the school's delegation about the difficulties and efforts of teachers and students in Mu Cang Chai in particular, and in mountainous, remote, and isolated areas in general. Mu Cang Chai High School is the only high school in the district, with ethnic minority students accounting for up to 96%. This is one of the areas most severely devastated by the historic flash flood on the morning of August 3rd.
