University of Social Sciences and Humanities supports students in flood-affected areas of Mu Cang Chai

On August 24, the school's delegation visited and presented gifts to teachers and students of Mu Cang Chai High School in Yen Bai province, which suffered heavy damage after the historic flash flood.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Party Committee Secretary, Head of the working delegation - representing all staff and civil servants of the School directly presented a gift of 50 million VND, 20 sets of textbooks and some valuable books to teachers and students of Mu Cang Chai High School. This is the initial result after the campaign launched by the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to call for support for teachers and students in the flood-affected areas of Yen Bai province, to help them prepare for the new school year 2017.

Mr. Dang Quang Khanh - Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Yen Bai province, Mr. Vu Van Tien - Principal of Mu Cang Chai High School also informed the delegation of the school about the difficulties and efforts to overcome difficulties of teachers and students of Mu Cang Chai in particular, in mountainous, remote and isolated areas in general. Mu Cang Chai High School is the only high school in the district, ethnic minority students account for 96%. This is one of the most seriously damaged areas in the historic flash flood in the early morning of August 3.
