Reflections from student Trinh Ngoc Anh (K61 Oriental Studies - Company Commander of Company 2) HOA LAC 19 - THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING Dear teachers, Dear students, At today's closing ceremony, I, Trinh Ngoc Anh, a student from class K61 of the Faculty of Oriental Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, am very honored and proud to represent nearly 2000 students and share our thoughts and feelings over the past 28 days. I still remember the day we first met, feeling awkward and shy, but now, having become so familiar, it's time to say goodbye. First, let me express my most sincere gratitude to all the teachers who have been with us from the very beginning. We will never forget the clear, resounding voice and the "I SWEAR!" of Teacher "Hoa Minzy" every Monday morning, the radiant smile of "Boss" Tung, or the frown of Teacher Tha. We will also never forget Teacher Khanh's reminders to put up the mosquito nets every evening, Teacher Toan's warnings about not causing a disturbance, and the sight of Teachers Hoang and Bao playing hacky sack with the students every afternoon, the tall and imposing figure of Teacher Duc, the small stature of Teacher Tien, and the sunny smile of Teacher "Ip Man." Thank you, teachers, for always caring for us students and always being there for us like fathers and older brothers! I never imagined that in a military environment, I would find such heartwarming feelings. I would like to express my gratitude to the professors for their political lessons, which, despite seemingly being incredibly theoretical and dry, became so engaging and interesting through their lectures. We will never forget the stories of Professor Hung, Professor Khai, Professor Son, and Professor Thang. These stories were written from their own life experiences, from Professor Than's lesson on explosives, Professor Ha's secrets of love, Professor Hau's timeless song "Sunflower," the wit of "Oppa" Chanh Dao, the gentleness of Professor Cong, the warm voice of Professor Giang… And also the legendary "flirty" smile of Professor Nghia, the "Hola Thousand and One Nights" stories that Professor Sang still tells, and the lovely musical gifts of Professor Hoang, whom the D5 students affectionately call "Boss" Hoang. Thank you, teachers, for guiding and teaching us, and for accompanying us throughout the course. Certainly, the memories at Hola wouldn't be complete without you! The haunting alarm clock sound that Mr. Sang mentioned – many of us will download it as our ringtone when we get back to Hanoi… We'll never forget the exercise sessions we can't remember, the happiness of going for a run only to see it rain, the hunger pangs when we still had to queue for lunch, the trays of rice disappearing in minutes. Behind each tray of rice are the sweat and silent sacrifices of the kitchen staff; we thank you all so much! And perhaps the most beautiful memories are the times when we were sick and our friends were there for us – those friends who are usually so mischievous, but at that moment they were so gentle and caring. I also want to express my gratitude to the female medical staff who took care of us when we were sick. Hola, for us, also means the singing at every cultural event, and the bright lights on the night of August 22nd. I will never forget that August 22nd with – “Hoa Lac – Love No. 19”. That is our mark on this land of Hola. I will always remember August 23rd with the hearts that said, “One drop of blood given – one life saved.” I'm leaving behind at Hola memories—some happy, some sad, and some incredibly joyful. I'm leaving behind at Hola the bowls of instant noodles we hastily ate at night, the times the riot police came down to the field, and the comrades who stood by each other during punishments. Even after returning to Hanoi, let's still cherish each other like this, my friends! Hola left behind both smiles and tears. Hola left behind a part of our youth - a part of our young adulthood! All good things must come to an end, and the time to say goodbye has arrived. It's time to say farewell. Once again, I would like to express my gratitude to all the teachers! Thank you, Hoa Lac, for everything! Hello Hoa Lac - we're back! |
