Tuesday - January 30, 2018 07:54
On January 30, 2018, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held a meeting for former staff and lecturers at the school, and celebrated the longevity of teachers over 80 years old on the occasion of the Mau Tuat Spring.

Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Principal of the School), Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh (Chairman of the School's Trade Union), Dr. Tran Bach Hieu (Secretary of the School's Youth Union), Prof. People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh (Chairman of the School's Former Teachers' Association), representatives of affiliated departments and nearly 250 former staff and lecturers at the school.

At the ceremony, in front of the group of former teachers, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh reported on the achievements of the school in the past school year and sent New Year greetings to the teachers.

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh spoke at the ceremony

Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh said: “The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is always proud of the team of former teachers who have built the tradition for the University. The next generations wish to cultivate that value, to be worthy of the school's slogan: Cherish the past, hold the future".

Currently, the University is one of the leading training institutions in Social Sciences and Humanities with 111 professors and associate professors, 17 faculties and departments, 24 undergraduate training majors, and 69 postgraduate training programs. The University's entrance students are highly competitive. To promote its 73-year tradition, the University aims to be in the top 100 universities in Asia.

However, the School still recognizes the aspects that need to be overcome. The number of articles and research works is still limited compared to international standards; not many works have been published internationally. Many students do not have adequate foreign language proficiency and soft skills. Thus, the School must try harder to be worthy of the stature of a major training center in the region and the world. Former teachers are a great source of motivation for teachers and students of the School to overcome difficulties. With teachers as a solid rear, there is nothing the School cannot do."

Associate Professor Nguyen Van Ham summarized the activities of the Association of Former Teachers in the past year: “The Association successfully organized the Congress of the Association of Former Teachers in October, electing the Executive Committee for the new term. At the Congress of Former Teachers at the National University level, the Association of Former Teachers and the President of the Association - Professor, People's Teacher Vu Duong Ninh received a certificate of merit from the President of VNU.”
