With their foreign language proficiency and understanding, a group of students majoring in Japanese, Faculty of Oriental Studies, were selected by the Japan International Exchange to represent Vietnamese students to attend an exchange with members of the Delegation of the Council of Local Governments for Promoting International Relations of Japan during the Delegation's working trip to the Hanoi People's Committee to express the thoughts and perceptions of Vietnamese students on issues related to culture and youth today.

The program took place with four main discussion topics: youth culture, Japanese cuisine and globalization, gender equality and public culture. The direct participants in the cultural exchange were 3rd and 4th year students, and some students who had the opportunity to study abroad in Japan in the Japanese Studies major. With their abilities, understanding of Japan as well as their specialized language skills, the students confidently expressed the views of Vietnamese students on cultural issues of interest, and at the same time gained a deeper insight and comparison between the cultures of the two countries.
