Following the activities commemorating the 100th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's departure to seek a path to national salvation, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, in collaboration with the Vietnam Film Institute, organized film days about President Ho Chi Minh.On the evening of June 3, 2011, faculty and students of the university participated in an exchange and meeting with the film crew of "Looking Out to the Sea" - a film about the youth of President Ho Chi Minh. The film's script won second prize in a screenwriting competition in response to the "Learning and Following the Moral Example of Ho Chi Minh" campaign, and was commissioned by the state for the 120th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birth in 2010. The film had a total budget of 7.2 billion VND. Attending the exchange were Mr. Nguyen Quang Trung (Deputy Director of the Vietnam Film Institute), screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat - Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Film Association and also the author of the script for "Looking Out to the Sea", Meritorious Artist Vu Chau - director of "Looking Out to the Sea", actor Minh Duc - playing Nguyen Tat Thanh in "Looking Out to the Sea"... "Looking Out to the Sea" has many differences and new features compared to previous films made about President Ho Chi Minh. Screenwriter Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat shared: "The biggest challenge for the film crew was that there had already been many films about Ho Chi Minh's life, and if not handled carefully, there would be repetition. However, the period when he worked as a physical education teacher at Duc Thanh School had never been explored before, when he was 18 years old. Creating the setting for the film 'Looking Out to the Sea' was particularly elaborate because it required completely recreating the scenery, props, and costumes of the early 20th century. The film's script begins with the two sons, Thanh and Dat, of Nguyen Sinh Sac, studying at Hue National School. The younger brother, Nguyen Tat Thanh, acted as an interpreter for farmers during a protest against high taxes and was expelled from school. His father sent him to Phan Thiet to teach at Duc Thanh School. The film portrays the image of a dedicated teacher who loves and wholeheartedly imparts knowledge to his students." Sharing his feelings about playing Nguyen Tat Thanh in the film "Looking Out to the Sea," actor Minh Duc said: "I was very happy and proud to receive the role, but also very worried because of the pressure from my previous roles portraying Uncle Ho, which were very successful. After a rather difficult process of getting into character, my performance ultimately satisfied the director and a large audience." Immediately after the exchange and meeting with the film crew, faculty and students of the school watched the film "Looking Out to the Sea." From June 3rd to June 8th, the film days about President Ho Chi Minh will continue with several other films about him.
