Activities to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27).

On July 25, 2019, the Executive Committee of the Veterans Association, in coordination with the Executive Committee of the Trade Union and the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, organized a cordial gathering to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27, 1947 - July 27, 2019). This was an opportunity for the University to express its gratitude for the contributions of faculty members who are war invalids and the families of martyrs.

Activities to commemorate the 72nd anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Martyrs (July 27).

Attending the meeting were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hai - Chairman of the Veterans Association, Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - Chairman of the University's Trade Union, members of the Executive Committee of the Veterans Association, the Standing Committee of the University's Trade Union, students, and especially five staff members who are war invalids, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs.

Professor Nguyen Van Kim, on behalf of the university leadership, presented gifts and expressed profound gratitude to the teachers who are war invalids, wounded soldiers, and family members of martyrs for their contributions to protecting the country during wartime, and for their active participation and successful completion of tasks on the educational front, making significant contributions to the training and "nurturing of human resources" of the university. The professor also expressed his confidence that the teaching staff will continue to uphold the university's fine traditions, lead in all endeavors, and serve as role models for faculty and students.

Professor Nguyen Van Kim also expressed his hope that in the future, the university's leadership, as well as the entire faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, will have more opportunities and meaningful activities to show greater concern for the families of wounded soldiers, martyrs, and former military personnel within the university.

Associate Professor Pham Ngoc Thanh, on behalf of the staff and faculty who are war invalids, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs, expressed gratitude to the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the mass organizations, and all staff and students of the University for their continuous care and attention to the staff and faculty who are war invalids, sick soldiers, and relatives of martyrs.

During the meeting, the students also heard from their teachers about their profound memories and experiences on the battlefield, and their personal feelings during those glorious years of the country's history. The students expressed their wish that future generations of students at the school would have more opportunities to interact with their teachers – living witnesses of history – to learn more about history and the contributions of previous generations, thereby gaining proper guidance in life.

Dr. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh - Chairperson of the Trade Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities

Continuing its series of activities to express gratitude and appreciation, on the morning of July 24th, a delegation from the University's Trade Union, led by Ms. Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh – President of the University's Trade Union, visited and presented gifts to wounded and sick soldiers at the Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of Meritorious People in Thai Binh province. Joining the delegation were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Van Hai – President of the University's Veterans Association and other trade union officials.

The Thai Binh Provincial Center for the Care and Rehabilitation of War Veterans is a centralized facility for the care and treatment of severely wounded soldiers in Thai Binh province, currently caring for 23 severely disabled veterans.

On behalf of the delegation, Comrade Ngo Thi Kieu Oanh delivered a speech and presented 10 million VND in cash along with 23 gifts to the wounded and sick soldiers, expressing the gratitude, encouragement, and support of the school's staff to the wounded and sick soldiers - the previous generations who sacrificed their lives and blood so that the country could have a peaceful life today.

In response to the concern and visit from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Mr. Hoang Van Vinh, Deputy Director of the Center for Nurturing and Caring for War Veterans in Thai Binh Province, shared that the work being done by the staff at the Center cannot be compared to the losses and sacrifices that the war veterans have endured. The Center will strive even harder to provide the best possible care for those receiving treatment here. On behalf of the war veterans and staff of the Center, Mr. Hoang Van Vinh expressed his deep gratitude to the Party Committee, the Board of Directors, the Executive Committee of the Trade Union of the University, and all the staff and students of the University.
