
35 young lecturers and researchers from units of the Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Academy of Journalism and Communication, and the Institute for European Studies - Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences participated in the training.

The lecturer is Associate Professor Christina Schawenkel, an expert in Anthropology and Southeast Asian Studies at the University of California, Riverside, USA. She is the co-editor-in-chief of the Journal of Vietnamese Studies and the author of the books “The American War in Contemporary Vietnam: Transnational Remembrance and Representation” (2009) and “Neoliveralism in Vietnam” (2012). Another lecturer is Dr. Michaela Boerner from Jena Friedrich-Schiler University.

The training covered qualitative and quantitative research methods in social sciences, how to write research proposals for funding, the process of submitting manuscripts to a specialized journal, and research ethics when using qualitative and quantitative methods.

This course is part of a series of activities aimed at enhancing research capacity and international publication skills for staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
