At the meeting, Prof. Dr. La Van Thanh introduced the Oriental Language Institute, Sichuan University of Foreign Studies and reviewed some cooperation results between the two sides. The Institute was established in 2006 and has about 700 students. Vietnamese language students who have studied for the third year can be sent to universities in Vietnam to study Vietnamese, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. According to the memorandum of understanding signed by the two sides in 2011, after 8 courses, the other side has sent about 130 undergraduate students to the University.
According to Prof. Dr. La Van Thanh, most of the Academy's students have given positive feedback on the learning and living environment as well as the qualifications of the school's lecturers. Therefore, the Academy hopes to continue the cooperation program with our side, especially expanding the target students to higher levels such as master's and doctoral degrees. At the same time, Prof. Thanh proposed that the two sides extend the cooperation agreement which will expire in July 2020.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa highly appreciated and expressed her desire to promote the results of cooperation between the two sides. With two prestigious Vietnamese language training units, the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language and the Faculty of Linguistics, the University is ready to receive and create the best conditions for students of the Oriental Language Academy.
Sichuan University of Foreign Studies was founded in 1950 and is located in Chongqing City, China. Sichuan University of Foreign Studies has about 15,000 students. The university's organizational structure includes 23 departments and affiliated institutes, 2 independent institutes, 2 affiliated high schools and an international school. With 11 foreign languages taught, including Vietnamese, the university is one of the top 8 foreign language universities in China.
