At the meeting, Mr. Yamakawa Kaoru presented the plan to organize a 3-session course on tea ceremony for students majoring in Japanese Studies (Faculty of Oriental Studies) of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities at the Urakenke tea house, FPT Hanoi headquarters. The expected time will be on October 1, 8, and 15, 2019. The course content will include tea ceremony and Japanese culture, tea ceremony and Zen, practicing basic tea ceremony skills, and kimono wearing skills. At the end of the course, students will receive a certificate of participation issued by the Urasenke Tea Sect.
On behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh highly appreciated the idea and said that this is a meaningful activity for educating Japanese culture for the University's students in particular and Vietnamese youth in general. At the same time, it is also a manifestation of the friendship and cultural exchange between Vietnam and Japan that is growing stronger and stronger. Therefore, the University is committed to creating the best conditions to realize the idea and select the most outstanding students of the Department of Japanese Studies to participate in this event.
Urasenke is one of the main schools of tea ceremony in Japan with a history of more than 400 years. Currently, the number of members of the Urasenke tea ceremony school is present in about 100 countries around the world. In Vietnam, on October 14, 2018, FPT Corporation and the Japan Tea Ceremony Association opened the first Japanese tea room in Vietnam. On March 28, 2019, 31 students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies had the opportunity to participate in the tea ceremony experience at this tea room.
