Plan to organize the first Academic Advisory Competition

To implement the 2010-2011 school year plan and the key tasks of phase II in the roadmap for converting university training to credits, the School issued a plan to organize the first academic advising competition: "Companionship - Responsibility - Creativity" as follows.

I. PURPOSE AND REQUIREMENTS

1. Purpose - To improve the professional skills of academic advisors (AADs) and the sense of responsibility of CVHT managers. - To raise the awareness of lecturers and students about the role of academic advisors in training activities; - To commend typical academic advisors; to contribute to building solutions to innovate the school's CVHT work model. 2. Requirements - All CVHTs are responsible for fully participating in the content of the contest. - The Board of Directors of the faculties/departments assigns 1 member to directly direct the CVHT of the participating unit and at the same time be the team leader in the 2nd and 3rd rounds; - The School website promptly posts news and articles about the contest activities; The Trade Union, Youth Union and Student Association organize for union members and members to actively participate in the contest activities.

II. CONTEST RULES

The contest is organized in 3 rounds. After the first round, 8 teams with the highest scores will be selected to compete in the second round. After the second round, 4 teams will be selected to compete in the final round. The teams are determined by the training major. For the majors of Vietnamese Studies and Anthropology, after the results of the first round, the team plan for the second round will be decided. 1. "Accompanying" round - Contestants: CVHT of all units - Contest content: Regulations in the training regulations, procedures for advising students in registering for courses, choosing a major, how to build a study plan... - Exam format: Multiple choice (30 minutes, maximum 45 points) + Essay (45 minutes, maximum 55 points). - Exam scoring: Each individual exam is worth a maximum of 100 points. An individual exam with 80/100 points will be given a coefficient of 1.2. Then, the score of the entire team will be calculated. The team's score is the average score of the individuals participating in the competition. 2. "Responsibility" round - Contestants: Teams selected for round 2 - Contest content: Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of the current training model; analyze the advantages and difficulties students encounter during the learning process and thereby clarify the responsibilities of CVHT and leaders of the training unit. - Contest format: The team takes a written test (maximum of 10 A4 pages). Then, the team presents and defends the content of the article before the Board of Judges and representatives of teams not participating in round 2 and student representatives. The maximum presentation time is 5 minutes. - Exam scoring: The maximum score is 100 points, in which the score assessed by the Board of Judges for the written test is a maximum of 50 points and the score for the presentation and defense of the exam content is a maximum of 50 points. 3. "Creative" round - Contestants: Teams selected for round 3 (with student participation). - Contest content: Introduce the training industry and the work of the CVHT of the industry and handle professional situations of academic counseling for students. - Contest format: Dramatization. + Contest introduces the training industry and the work of the CVHT of the industry. The format of the contest is chosen by the unit, the time is not more than 5 minutes for a team. The maximum score of the contest is 25 points. + Contest on handling self-selected situations: The contest team builds the situation and solves it. The format of the contest is chosen by the unit, the time is not more than 5 minutes for a team. The maximum score of the contest is 35 points. + Compulsory situation handling contest: Each contest team will receive 1 situation from the Board of Judges presented through a video clip. The maximum preparation time is 2 minutes. The time to solve the situation is not more than 2 minutes. After solving the exam situation, the team will answer 01 more question posed by the students in the hall. If there are many questions from students, the Board of Examiners will specify the question that the team must answer. If no students ask questions, the Board of Examiners will ask questions. With this question, the team does not have time to prepare but must answer immediately. The maximum time to answer is 2 minutes. The maximum score of the exam is 40 points, in which the part of answering questions on the spot (by students or the Board of Examiners) is a maximum of 15 points.

III. PRIZES

The prizes include a souvenir flag and cash prizes as follows: 1. Collective prize (final round) - Special prize: 2,000,000 VND (two million VND), - 01 first prize: 1,000,000 VND (one million VND), - 01 second prize: 800,000 VND (eight hundred thousand VND), - 01 third prize: 600,000 VND (six hundred thousand VND), 2. Individual prize - 5 prizes for the best individual entries of round 1: each prize is 500,000 VND (five hundred thousand VND). - 01 prize for the most outstanding CVHT of the contest: 700,000 VND (seven hundred thousand VND).

Regulations on student affairs at Vietnam National University, Hanoi issued under Decision No. 2875/QD-CT&CTSV, dated August 18, 2009 of the Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi. 3. Summary report of 4 years of university training by credits at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2006 - 2010) at the Conference summarizing 4 years of university training by credits held on December 4, 2010. (The above documents are available on the website of the Training Department: http://dt.ussh.edu.vn) The contest is an important activity in the solutions to promote in-depth credit university training. The school requires: - Faculty leaders to promote personal responsibility, promptly and with the best quality the tasks instructed by the Organizing Committee. - CVHT actively and enthusiastically participate in the contest with a serious spirit, learning for the quality of their work, for the students and for the training quality of the school. - Students of the whole school actively participate in the contest for students with the theme "Raising questions, posing situations for CVHT of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities" and other related activities. - Leaders of functional departments, Trade Union, Youth Union and Student Association have specific measures to contribute to the overall success of the contest. - The school website builds a topic on the contest, proactively giving opinions of staff and students of the whole school on issues related to this important work of credit-based university training.
