
The first Master's program in Journalism commenced in Da Nang on December 4, 2019.
The opening ceremonies in various localities were attended by Dr. Mai Duc Loc (Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association), Journalist Nguyen Be (Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association); leaders of departments, agencies, and media organizations; Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Dr. Le Duc Toan (Vice Rector of Duy Tan University), Dr. Le Van Cuong (Vice Rector of Binh Duong University), MSc. Nguyen Cao Dat (Vice Rector of Cuu Long University), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities)... Notably, the opening ceremonies brought together nearly 90 trainees, including leaders of media organizations, departments, agencies, reporters, editors, and communication specialists working in the Central, Southeast, and Mekong Delta regions.

Leaders of the Vietnam Journalists Association and partner universities highly appreciated the role of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in general and the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training in particular in actively opening training programs that are practically relevant to the needs of developing high-quality human resources in the field of journalism and communication. The program has attracted the attention of a large number of leaders from press agencies, departments, ministries, journalists, members, and specialists in the field of journalism and communication nationwide. The focus of the Master of Applied Journalism program is on key issues of interest to the press such as:Trends in modern journalism, Convergent and multimedia communication, Journalism economics, Social media communication, Data journalism, Legal and ethical issues in journalism in the context of digital media, Specialized communication practices in: politics, economics, culture, and social issues.... The program provides excellent support for reporters, editors, and media professionals to improve their professional skills, while also contributing to enhancing the media management capabilities of the leadership and management team.

Currently, the Master's program in Applied Journalism is being offered in Hanoi, Da Nang, Binh Duong, Vinh Long, and Ca Mau. In 2020, the program is expected to be expanded to the Northwest and Central Highlands regions… In addition, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will collaborate with local universities to offer applied Master's programs such as: Master of Journalism and Media Management, Master of Science and Technology Management, Master of Archival Studies, and Master of Office Management…
