Opening ceremony for the Master's program in Journalism, cohort QH-2018-X, in Vinh Long.

On November 22nd, in Vinh Long, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and Cuu Long University held the opening ceremony for a Master's program in Journalism for 50 students who are members, journalists, and media professionals in the Mekong Delta region.

Attending the opening ceremony were journalist Nguyen Be (Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi (Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Journalist Magazine); journalist Doan Minh Long (Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, President of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Luong Minh Cuong (Rector of Cuu Long University).

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated: The university has a tradition of over 70 years of development and growth, with the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training being one of the most dynamic units, possessing a long tradition and prestige in journalism and communication training nationwide. Cuu Long University has been a close partner of the university in the Mekong Delta region over the years. This is the first Master's program in Journalism that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has co-organized in Vinh Long.

At the opening ceremony, journalist Nguyen Be (Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association) stated: In the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution impacting all aspects of social life, especially the field of journalism and media, in order to improve the quality of journalists and increase the number of media management staff for the Mekong Delta region in the coming time, the Vietnam Journalists Association has proactively contacted the leaders of the provinces in the region, directly exchanged information with the Journalists Associations at all levels, and worked many times with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) to organize today's postgraduate journalism course.

Journalist Nguyen Be hopes that the 46 trainees will be a rich source of journalistic human resources who can participate in higher-level training programs in the future, creating momentum to help journalism in the region, once considered a "cultural backwater," have the opportunity to develop sustainably.

On this occasion, journalist Nguyen Be suggested that the leaders of the agencies managing and directing the press, the leaders of press agencies, and the Journalists' Associations at all levels in the Mekong Delta region should be responsible for effectively utilizing this human resource, creating the most favorable conditions for trainees to participate fully and achieve the highest effectiveness in their studies.
