Opening Ceremony of the Master's Program in Journalism in Ca Mau

On November 24th, in Ca Mau City, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) and the Ca Mau Branch of Binh Duong University held the opening ceremony for the Master of Journalism program for students who are members, journalists, and press officials in Ca Mau and neighboring provinces.

Attending the opening ceremony were Mr. Than Duc Huong (Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province), journalist Nguyen Be (Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Loi (Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Editor-in-Chief of the Journalist Magazine), journalist Doan Minh Long (Member of the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Journalists Association), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, University of Social Sciences and Humanities)... The 54 students of the class are reporters and journalists from media agencies in the Mekong Delta region.

In his opening remarks, Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) stated: "As a leading institution for training in social sciences and humanities nationwide, the University is delighted to participate in improving the quality of human resources in journalism and media in the Mekong Delta region. Binh Duong University's Ca Mau branch has been a close partner of the University in this region over the years. This is the second Master's program in Journalism that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has co-organized, following the first one in Vinh Long."

At the opening ceremony, journalist Nguyen Be (Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association) stated: "This event takes place during the historic month of November, coinciding with the joyful atmosphere of celebrating the 78th anniversary of the Southern Uprising and the success of the 2018 Mekong Delta Journalism Award Ceremony organized by the Journalist Magazine (Vietnam Journalists Association). This is a very happy occasion for the press in the Mekong Delta, and especially for journalists in Ca Mau province, to have a Master's program in Journalism organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities held here."

  • For the 2019-2020 academic year, the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training (University of Social Sciences and Humanities) plans to organize a Master's program in Applied Journalism in Hanoi, Lao Cai, Da Nang, Binh Duong, and Vinh Long.
  • Target audience: All individuals who have graduated from university with a degree in Journalism, or a related field, or a field other than Journalism.
