Unforgettable memories with film artists.
Lively, enthusiastic, and memorable are the lasting impressions of the exchange program between film artists and faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, held on the evening of October 2nd, 2010.The film artists participating in the exchange were from the film crews of "Tay Son Heroes" and "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca" - two Vietnamese feature films that left the most positive impressions among those produced to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long. The exchange program was part of the "Vietnamese Film Days" activities at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to celebrate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long - Hanoi, jointly organized by the Film Department and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Prior to this, on the afternoons of September 28th and 29th, in the auditorium on the 8th floor of building E, faculty and students of the university watched four films: "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca", "Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam", "Tay Son Heroes", and "The Firelighter". Attending the exchange were Mr. Lai Van Sinh (Director of the Department of Cinema), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Duc Nghieu (Vice Rector of the university), and nearly 1,000 faculty and students of the university. The auditorium on the 8th floor of building E was completely full on the evening of October 2nd.

Director Dao Ba Son's film crew was the first to visit and interact with faculty and students of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The two-hour feature film, "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca," was produced by Giai Phong Film Studio with a total budget of 7 billion VND, funded by the State. Based on the spirit of the poem "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca" by the great poet Nguyen Du (written around 1813-1814 during his diplomatic mission to China), the film revolves around the lives and love story of the two main characters, To Nhu and Cam, spanning from their youth to middle age. Commenting on the film, screenwriter and director Le Phuong affirmed that "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca is the most successful film" in the series of historical films produced to commemorate the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long.

The second part of the program was an exchange with the cast and crew of the film "Tay Son Heroes." This film, produced by Ly Huynh Film Studio, was recognized by the Vietnam Book of Records Center as the most elaborate and spectacular historical martial arts feature film with a series of impressive figures: the film crew mobilized over 200 martial arts masters, used 50 elephants from Buon Don, 38 horses from the racetrack, made over 2000 costumes for 4 different types of soldiers, gathered over 20,000 extras,... and the total budget was over 12 billion VND. This is considered the first historical film about the national hero Quang Trung - Nguyen Hue.

It is known that from October 17th to 21st, the first Vietnam International Film Festival 2010, celebrating the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi, will be held. According to Mr. Lai Van Sinh (Director of the Department of Cinema), the feature film "Long Thanh Cam Gia Ca" by director Dao Ba Son will be one of two films representing Vietnamese cinema to compete for an award at this festival.
