The Faculty and Student Singing Contest, celebrating the 65th anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, will be held over three evenings: November 10, 11, and 13, 2010.

I. Purpose and Significance

- To continue maintaining the tradition of cultural and artistic activities among faculty and students of the University through the Student Singing Contests and the Trade Union Singing Festival over the years. - To celebrate Vietnamese Teachers' Day on November 20th and the 65th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh signing the Decree establishing the Faculty of Literature – the predecessor of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi. - To create an environment for interaction between faculty and students, enriching their cultural and spiritual lives while honoring the teacher-student relationship, the spirit of solidarity in work and study, and working together to build a more developed University.

II. Time and location of the competition

2.1. Time- Two competition nights: 7:30 PM on November 10th and 11th, 2010 (Wednesday and Thursday). - Award ceremony and performance night: 7:30 PM on November 13th, 2010 (Saturday).2.2. Location- Two competition nights: Me Tri Dormitory Cultural Center – 182 Luong The Vinh, Hanoi. - Award ceremony with the theme "A Song of Welcome": Outdoor stage, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, within the framework of the camp celebrating the 65th anniversary of the University.

III. Competition Rules

3.1. Theme of the CompetitionThe song praises the glorious Party, the great President Ho Chi Minh, and love for the homeland; it celebrates the beauty of the Vietnamese people and the capital city of Hanoi; it honors the teacher-student relationship, the university in general and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in particular, the shining examples, ideals of life, and profound humanistic sentiments.3.2. Eligible participants- Staff currently working at the school. Students currently enrolled in all training programs. - Each affiliated Faculty/Department (correspondingly the Departmental Trade Unions, Student Unions, and Student Associations) is one participating unit in the competition. However, Trade Unions I, II, and III of the Rectorate Block, and the 2+2 student classes are one participating unit each.3.3. Time and duration of the dress rehearsal and competitionThe rehearsal and competition time for each unit is based on the results of a draw. Each unit has 40 minutes for a rehearsal. Each unit has 20 minutes to perform their competition entry (excluding preparation time). If a unit's performance exceeds one minute, 0.5 points will be deducted from the overall average score. If a unit is absent at the scheduled performance time, their performance will be considered as not participating in the competition.3.4. ScoreThe Organizing Committee is responsible for inviting a judging panel composed of professionals with social prestige to evaluate and score the entries. The judging panel will score each performance in the competition. Each performance is scored on a 10-point scale. The overall average score for the competition is calculated by dividing the total score of all performances by the total number of performances in each team's entry. This score takes into account performance style, costumes, supporting elements, overall presentation, and the theme of the competition. All decisions regarding the scores are made and the responsibility of the judging panel.3.5. Forms of PresentationThe programs submitted by participating units can be presented in various forms: choir, group singing, trio, duet, solo, etc. The organizing committee encourages programs with a theme, featuring large-scale choral performances, appropriate illustrations, and original songs – especially songs about the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Song genres can vary, such as pre-war music, revolutionary songs, pop music, folk music, etc., depending on each unit's choice to best showcase their performance abilities. Songs with lyrics that are inappropriate or contrary to Vietnamese customs and ethics are not eligible to participate.3.6. Regarding complaints, commendations, and disciplinary actions.All complaints regarding the results and the competition process from participating units must be submitted in writing. Representatives from each unit should contact the Organizing Committee directly immediately after the competition concludes so that the Committee can take appropriate action. Any uncivilized behavior (words, gestures, actions, etc.) that disrupts order, causes disunity among participating units, or negatively impacts the competition will result in deductions from that unit's overall score. Individuals will be subject to disciplinary action according to current regulations. IV. Prizes4.1. Team Award- 1st Prize: 2,000,000 VND - 2nd Prizes (2 winners): 1,500,000 VND each - 3rd Prizes (3 winners): 1,000,000 VND each - 9 Consolation Prizes (9 winners): 500,000 VND each4.2. Awarding prizes for themes and performances.- Best song praising the Party and love for the homeland: 300,000 VND - Best song about President Ho Chi Minh: 300,000 VND - Best song about the school: 300,000 VND - Most impressive and elaborately staged performance: 300,000 VND - Award for the best performance by a foreign student: 300,000 VND4.3. Individual Awards- 1st Prize for staff and 1st Prize for students: 400,000 VND/prize. - 2nd Prize for staff and 2nd Prize for students: 300,000 VND/prize. - 3rd Prize for staff and 3rd Prize for students: 200,000 VND/prize. - Consolation Prize for staff and 1 Consolation Prize for students: 100,000 VND/prize.

V. Awards Ceremony Night

Immediately after the final competition night, the Organizing Committee will announce the list of performances selected to participate in the awards ceremony. These are the outstanding performances with content that aligns with the overall program of the awards ceremony. The competition results will be announced and awards presented live during the awards ceremony as part of the "Welcome Song" program celebrating the 65th anniversary of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

VI. Progress of implementing the tasks for the competition

- September 2010: Develop a plan and submit a report for approval from the school's leadership. - October 2010: Implement the plan to the units; units organize program development and rehearsals; carry out communication activities about the competition; prepare content for the competition. October 5, 2010: Meeting to draw lots for the order of rehearsal and performances. - November 2010 (expected dates: November 10, 11, 2010): Organize the competition. - November 13, 2010: Performance and award ceremony.
