On the afternoon of September 29, 2010, the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the school organized a seminar entitled "Reading Culture Among Students Today".
On the afternoon of September 29, 2010, the Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the school organized a seminar entitled "Reading Culture Among Students Today".This seminar was part of a series of activities in response to the Thang Long - Hanoi Reading Month (from September 10, 2010 to October 10, 2010) launched by the Hanoi Youth Union. Attending the seminar were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University - along with representatives from the Youth Union Executive Committee - Student Association, leaders of several faculties, and nearly 400 students from various faculties and departments. Opening the seminar on "Reading Culture Among Students Today," student Nguyen Chi Trung, K52 Information - Library Science, gave a lively presentation on books about Thang Long - Hanoi such as: "Hanoi 36 Streets" by Thach Lam, "Famous People of Hanoi" and "Hanoi's Leisure and Entertainment Traditions" by Bang Son. Besides the excellent books, the seminar also featured very frank and sincere sharing from Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Kim on "reading" and "learning." Based on the issues raised by the guest speakers, the students also expressed their views on their own reading culture and that of young people today. After more than 150 minutes of discussion and sharing, the seminar "Reading Culture Among Students Today" concluded successfully. Evaluating the results achieved in the seminar, Ms. Trinh Minh Thai, Secretary of the University's Youth Union, affirmed: "Reading culture is an inseparable part of self-learning; it will contribute to enhancing critical thinking and scientific research abilities in each student."
