Student Scientific Research Implementation Plan for the 2008-2009 Academic Year

Based on the conclusions of the meeting on the implementation of student scientific research activities for the 2008-2009 academic year, the School would like to announce the following plan:

1. Student research at the faculty level

Student research activities at the faculty level for the 2008-2009 academic year will be implemented from October 2008 to the end of March 2009:

- October 2008 - February 2009: Units developed and implemented student research work plans (forming and registering research topics, assigning teachers to supervise student research, etc.). Each research topic had no more than 5 students participating.

- March 2009: Units organize student scientific conferences within their respective units (this must be discussed at the departmental/specialized group level). Before organizing the conference, units report to the Board of Directors (through the Research Management & Postgraduate Training Department) on the list of the Scientific Conference Organizing Committee (the Organizing Committee must include representatives from the Youth Union and the Student Association of the faculty); the report evaluation committee; the list of student scientific reports; the expected time and location of the conference; the estimated budget, etc. Student scientific reports will be evaluated and awarded prizes according to the requirements and standards in the accompanying guidelines. - April 1st, 2009 – April 7th, 2009: The following units submitted reports to the Research Management & Postgraduate Training Department:

+ Summary document of student research activities for the 2008-2009 academic year of the unit.

+ The unit's student scientific report catalog follows this template:

+ The official letter requests that student research projects be considered for awards at the university level, specifying the awards (first, second, and third). Each unit should propose one project for the Ministry-level competition and four projects for the university-level awards (one first prize, one second prize, and two third prizes). The Faculty of History and the Faculty of Literature, both offering teacher training programs and high-quality programs, should propose seven projects (one first prize, three second prizes, and three third prizes). The Faculties of Philosophy, Linguistics, and Management Science, both offering high-quality programs, should propose five projects (one first prize, two second prizes, and two third prizes).

+ Research projects and project summaries (3-5 A4 pages, already edited) are proposed for consideration for the University-level award.

NoteTo prepare for yearbook printing, the School requests that all units submit the aforementioned documents in two formats: in hard copy and on a CD (Times New Roman font, size 13, Unicode encoding).

Funding is allocated to units according to the limits in the Internal Expenditure Regulations. If the allocated funds are insufficient, units may spend additional funds from their own training support budget, but not exceeding 3,000,000 VND.

2. Organize a University-level Student Scientific Research Conference.

- April 2009: Evaluation and decision-making process for awarding prizes to student research projects at the university level.

- May 2009: Edited manuscripts and printed the proceedings of award-winning student research projects at the university level, organized the university-level student scientific conference.

- June 2009: Selection and investment of projects submitted for the Ministry-level Student Scientific Research Award.

- July 2009: Submitted the project to the Ministry-level award competition.
