[Book] World Political Institutions Textbook

There are currently over 200 countries in the world with different political systems. Each system has different organizational forms, operating models, characteristics and features. How can we basically understand the political nature of these countries? The textbookWorld political systemwas compiled with the aim of providing students of social sciences and those interested with basic, systematic, and updated knowledge about the origin, characteristics, types, and nature of political institutions in the contemporary world. To achieve the above purpose, the textbook mainly uses the comparative method to highlight the differences between political institutional models in the world and from there, make suggestions for Vietnam.

In terms of content, the textbook is structured into 11 lessons. The first four lessons (1,2,3 and 4) focus on issues of a methodological and research methodological nature; answering basic questions such as: What are politics and world political institutions? How are states, nations, peoples, and nation-states different? What are the connotations of democracy and power? How to distinguish between presidential, parliamentary, and mixed institutions. The next four lessons (5,6,7 and 8) delve into the most important issues of a political institution such as the constitution, legislative, executive, and judicial branches, and the relationships between these branches. Who, how, and in what way can political institutions be formed is the main content of lessons 9 and 10 when analyzing the roles of parties, interest groups, elections, public opinion, and the media. The final unit is devoted to the most important global political institution, the United Nations (UN), and two indispensable regional institutions, the European Union (EU) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). To help learners focus on the main issues, review questions are provided at the end of each unit.
