The 2012 Counseling and Training Support Day will be held on Saturday, November 24, 2012, with the theme "Difference and Action". This theme is the core value of the counseling and training support activities carried out in the school during the 2012-2013 academic year.Activities centered around this theme will be organized through seminars, forums, games, and training sessions.
1. Overcome the "fear" of entering the corporate environment.
Fear exists because you are not prepared to face what you will have to face. Students may have many academic achievements but lack practical experience – something that employers always demand. Fear of saying the wrong thing, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of being fired – Fear is always the worst enemy in the early years of a young person's career. Identifying fear and developing strategies to overcome it is something every student needs to do even before graduating from university.
2. Career Maps: Applications in developing student learning and employment programs.
As the job market becomes increasingly competitive, career guidance and investment in professional knowledge and skills are becoming more and more essential. To create a suitable and effective study plan that avoids wasting time, and to boost student motivation, ICANDO introduces the ICANDO Career Map as a useful tool for choosing a suitable career and supporting career development. The ICANDO Career Map is an improved version of the ILO's WOW (World of Works) Career Map, referencing the Canadian and US Occupational Matrices, and especially incorporating tools from the ICANDO Career Guidance Method – a method of career selection based on dominant thinking abilities and professional personality traits.
3. Practice debating and critical thinking.
A debate was held on the topic "Should the use of reference materials be allowed in all university exams?" It's evident that the amount of knowledge taught at the university level is much broader than at the high school level. Furthermore, higher education aims to develop students' ability to synthesize, think critically, and analyze information in a sufficiently deep and independent manner – essential preparation for independent life and work later on. Therefore, some universities allow students in certain fields to use reference materials during exams to reduce the pressure of memorizing a large amount of knowledge.
Debate tactics- This is a policy proposal. The opposing arguments in this type of proposal focus on the PLAN for the solution. - The main task of the team in favor is to (i) demonstrate that there is a problem that needs to be solved (answering the question: What is the problem? Why does it need to be solved?) and (ii) present a convincing solution to that problem. - The main task of the team against is to (i) demonstrate that there is no problem that needs to be solved; and (ii) demonstrate that the solution proposed by the team in favor is IMPOSSIBLE in any possible respect (timeframe, implementers, specific actions, location, affected sectors/fields/areas if the solution is implemented, etc.).
4. Salary survey in 2012 and suggestions for social science and humanities students.
The Salary and Career Path Survey Forum hopes to share with you very practical questions: What will your salary be like after graduation? And what do you need to do to achieve that salary? Furthermore, this topic gives you the opportunity to learn about CAREER PATHS, an indispensable factor for your professional development and career. Join us to find out why, even though we all studied in the same university class, ate breakfast together if we could afford it, and had similar GPA, some people achieve success early in life while others continue to struggle to make ends meet.
5. Looking for a job? Why are you failing?
Looking for a job? Are you really FINDING and on the right track? Common mistakes in the job search process: choosing positions/companies to apply to; approaching businesses; preparing for interviews and tests. How do recruiters perceive you? What are your "weapons" to "fight" with recruiters?
