The Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language held a reunion of generations of teachers.
On the morning of November 17, 2012, the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language held a reunion of generations of teachers.Attending the gathering were Prof. Dr. Vu Duong Ninh, Chairman of the Association of Retired Faculty Members of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Mr. Duong Minh Thu, Director of the International Student Center, Ministry of Education and Training; faculty members from within and outside the university currently lecturing at the Faculty; most of the Faculty's retired faculty members; faculty members who have transferred to other positions; all faculty staff and collaborators. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thien Nam, Dean of the Faculty, warmly welcomed the guests and generations of faculty members to the meeting. The Dean reviewed the Faculty's development process, its current situation, and future development orientation, and warmly congratulated and wished good health to all generations of faculty members on Vietnamese Teachers' Day.





The delegates were also very interested in the images shown, documenting the activities and moments in the lives of the teachers from the 1960s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, and the present. Professor Vu Duong Ninh, Chairman of the Retired Teachers' Association of the University, highly appreciated the close-knit activities of the Retired Teachers' Association of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language, and expressed his joy at the strong development of the Faculty in recent years, especially in the current period. Associate Professor Nguyen Thach Giang, now 86 years old, one of the pioneers in teaching Vietnamese language and culture to foreigners, briefly recounted the early days of establishing the Vietnamese Language Unit, the predecessor of the Faculty of Vietnamese Language, now the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language. He recalled with pride that, due to a special requirement in the 1970s, and with the efforts of the former Head of Department, Professor Hoang Trong Phien, the Department of Vietnamese Studies was the first to successfully train and defend doctoral dissertations (now called PhDs) in Vietnam for foreign graduate students. The late Minister Nguyen Dinh Tu personally attended the opening of the defense in the auditorium on the 4th floor of building B7 bis at that time, while the late Professor Nguy Nhu Kon Tum (former Rector of Hanoi University) attended from beginning to end. Associate Professor Nguyen Thach Giang also expressed confidence that the Department of Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language will certainly have a bright future.
