Enhancing knowledge of Religion and Law

From November 26th to December 5th, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi, in collaboration with Brigham Young University (USA) and the Institute for Global Engagement (USA), organized a training course on religion and the rule of law.
From November 26th to December 5th, 2012, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU Hanoi, in collaboration with Brigham Young University (USA) and the Institute for Global Engagement (USA), organized a training course on religion and the rule of law.Attending the opening ceremony of the course were Mr. Michael Orona - representative of the US Embassy in Vietnam; Mr. Khong Dai Minh - representative of the Vietnam-America Association; Professor W. Cole Durham Jr. - Director of the Center for International Studies on Law and Religion, Brigham Young University; representatives from ministries, departments, agencies, research institutes, etc. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - Vice Rector of the University, attended and delivered the opening speech. The course participants are 62 officials from various agencies, ministries, departments, universities, research institutes, and provinces and cities across the country. The course content mainly covers methods of studying religion and the rule of law; the relationship between religion and the rule of law; theoretical issues in the study of religion and the rule of law; experiences in resolving issues of religion and the rule of law worldwide; and achievements in implementing religious policies in Vietnam and some other countries. Scientists, researchers, lecturers, and scholars from both Vietnam and abroad will exchange and share experiences and research findings on religion and the rule of law. This course will allow scholars to share experiences and learn how to build the most effective legal system for the people and the country. This is the first short-term course on religion and the rule of law organized at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, aiming to equip learners with fundamental theoretical and practical knowledge on religion and the rule of law.
