Alumni are valuable assets
At the meeting with representatives of alumni of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Principal shared the highlights of the School's impressive achievements in the past school year.
The school currently has a team of leading scientists in the country, with 108 professors/associate professors, accounting for 29.5% of the teaching staff; 249 PhDs/366 teaching staff, accounting for 68%.
Every year, the school's staff publishes over 600 scientific articles, this year in particular there are more than 80 articles published internationally, of which 21 are listed in ISI and Scopus journals.
International cooperation has also made many strides with the effective implementation of major international projects, increasing the sending of students and lecturers to research, study and intern abroad. On the other hand, many international universities have sent students to participate in summer courses, spring courses, fall courses at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This is a trend of international exchange and integration that the University is promoting.
Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh shared about the achievements of the School in the past school year with alumni.
In terms of training, the school has many new points such as enrolling for the first time in Southeast Asian Studies in 2018, the International Development Studies major welcoming the first batch of students, building an independent Japanese Studies major and enrolling in 2019. 03 socialized training majors will start enrolling in the near future, including Journalism, Management Science, and Information Management. The specialized high school for Social Sciences and Humanities has been and is being built and will be a place to train talented students, meet social needs and create a high-quality input source for universities.
Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Vice President of Vietnam Historical Science Association)
The Rector also pointed out the challenges that the School and universities are facing. These are challenges in management capacity when moving towards university autonomy; in competition, university rankings and internationalization trends; in the impact of the 4.0 technology revolution, which is causing teaching and learning to constantly change, requiring new adaptations.
In that context, the University's alumni - including many successful people and pioneers in many social fields - are the University's valuable assets. They carry the core values of the University and are brand ambassadors for the quality of the University's training to society. The University hopes to increasingly connect and cooperate with generations of alumni to join hands to contribute to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Spreading the "quality" of Humanity
One of the leading scientists in the field of History - Prof. Dr. People's Teacher Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association) shared: many generations of students have been fortunate to be trained under the roof of Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - where there are generations of excellent teachers. The "synthetic" and "interdisciplinary" qualities are the unique and unmistakable features in the training style of the School, passed down through many stages of development.
Therefore, the students of the School have the ability to work in diverse and flexible positions thanks to that comprehensive knowledge. Our School has many successful and famous alumni. "Alumni are always attached to and want to contribute to the School, the problem is to think about how to raise the position of the School through relationships and connections with alumni" - Professor Nguyen Quang Ngoc suggested.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen The Ky (Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of Voice of Vietnam, former student of K22 Linguistics)
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky (Member of the Party Central Committee, General Director of the Voice of Vietnam, former student of K22 Linguistics) said that for many years, VOV has always been willing to accept students from the School for internships and practical work. And although each of the alumni has a different position and field of work, their feelings and responsibilities towards the School are the same, always full. You can join hands to build scholarship funds for poor but excellent students, like the hearts of the previous generation for the next generation of students.
Ms. Nhu Thi Ngan (General Director of Hanoi Tourism Company, former student of K48 Tourism)
Ms. Nhu Thi Ngan (General Director of Hanoi Tourism Company, former student of Tourism K48) believes that it is the "Humanity" from the university that has guided her to build a unique corporate culture. It is the deep emotional connection between members of the company, even between the families of members in the company, to create "soft" strength for the business. She also suggests increasing meetings, discussions, networking, and information exchange within the alumni community to build effective programs, contributing to the development of the School.
Professor Pham Quang Minh signed a memorandum of understanding between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and YGO Vietnam Service JSC.
The final part of the meeting was the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and YGO Service JSC, directed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Trang - former student of Nguyen Thi Ha Trang, K56 Management Science.
Connecting alumni - businesses - schools is a key activity that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is focusing on developing.
