This global course is organized to discuss the latest developments on a global scale, with a focus on Southeast Asia and Europe. Topics will cover approaches to global politics, the interplay between domestic and global politics, and regional responses to global socio-political challenges.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Professor Pham Quang Minh, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, extended greetings to all students participating in the course. He particularly highlighted the presence of international students, demonstrating the university's ongoing internationalization strategy. The Rector hoped that students would not only listen attentively to lectures but also take time to explore historical sites and scenic spots to gain a deeper understanding of Vietnam and its people. The Rector also expressed gratitude to the Center for Global Politics, the DAAD Foundation, and the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation Office in Vietnam for their support in organizing the event.

On behalf of the Free University of Berlin, Professor Klaus Segbers stated that the Center for Global Politics is honored to be organizing the Global Politics Course for the fifth time in collaboration with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation Office in Vietnam. The participation of students from many countries reflects the interest of young people in developments in international politics and also provides an opportunity to compare perspectives among countries in addressing global issues. Through this, participants from each country can outline potential scenarios and solutions to overcome current challenges.

The course will run from March 18th to March 28th and will include eight modules: New approaches to global politics; The shift in power and the complexity of globalization – Perspectives from Europe and Southeast Asia; The European Union (EU) as a regional project; ASEAN as a regional project and the role of Southeast Asia in the global system; The role of Europe in the global system; German media and its response to global issues; Vietnamese media and its response to global issues; Simulation game – Restoring peace in Fontania. Interspersed with lectures will be presentations, online exercises, summary reports, and dissertations. Participants will also visit Ha Long Bay on the afternoon of March 19th and the morning of March 20th.

The course was attended by 22 Vietnamese and international students from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam; the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Hue University of Foreign Languages; the University of Tubingen (Germany); Ludwig-Maximilians-Munich University (Germany); Humboldt University (Germany); the Royal University of Phnom Penh (Cambodia); and Pannasastra University, Cambodia.
