On the morning of April 20, 2016, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi) met with Prof. Dr. Jenn-Jaw Soong (National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan) and Dr. WKYung (Deputy Director of the School of Professional Education and Management Development (SPEED) – Hong Kong Polytechnic University). Also present at the meeting were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (former Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives from the Cooperation and Development Office.

Strengthening higher education relations between Vietnam, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh expressed his delight at welcoming the two professors to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The Rector stated that, with the goal of building the University of Social Sciences and Humanities into a research university, international cooperation and learning from and exchanging ideas with universities in the region are extremely important. Therefore, Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh hopes that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, along with National Cheng Kung University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University, will make further progress in educational cooperation.

Representatives from National Cheng Kung University and Hong Kong Polytechnic University also shared information about their teaching specializations and international training programs, as well as international cooperation at their respective universities. The two professors expressed their desire to cooperate with the University of Social Sciences and Humanities through student and faculty exchange programs and joint courses. This would enhance educational cooperation between the three universities in particular, and the relationship between Vietnam, Taiwan, and Hong Kong in general.

Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh reiterated the importance of mutual learning and changing students' perceptions in the current context. The Rector proposed a plan for cooperation between the two universities in the near future.

Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) is a public university established in 1937, with the primary mission of providing workforce training programs for industries and serving the community. After more than 75 years of operation, Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) has gained international recognition for its excellence in career-oriented training and innovative and unique research programs.

National Cheng Kung University was established in January 1993 and is located in eastern Tainan City, considered the science and technology hub of Taiwan. It is one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan, particularly in the fields of science, engineering, medicine, management, planning, and design.
