The meeting aimed to finalize opinions and proposals regarding the organization of the international scientific conference "Psychology in Southeast Asia" at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities from November 28th to December 1st, 2017. On behalf of the University's leadership and the Faculty of Psychology, Professor Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University) summarized the results of the internal discussion on the Vietnamese side. Within a short time, the organizing committee and content team from Vietnam had discussed in detail the fundamental issues of the conference. Above all, the Rector pledged that the University would do its utmost to ensure the conference's success and attract the participation of representatives from many agencies, departments, and organizations both domestically and internationally.
In response, Dr. Janel Gauthier expressed his gratitude for the School's thorough preparation of the necessary tasks for the conference within a relatively short timeframe. He hoped that the conference would foster connections within the Southeast Asian psychology network, especially through psychology training institutions at universities. Furthermore, he emphasized the need for diversity in topics, reflecting the different concerns within the regional and global psychology community. This would greatly contribute to the mission of the World Association for Applied Psychology in building networks among psychology researchers in the region and around the world.

During the meeting, both sides reached preliminary agreement on issues such as the preliminary program of the conference, key topics, list of speakers and delegates, budget, conference language, etc. Both sides also agreed to exchange and update information regularly regarding the conference.
