The Prime Minister has appointed Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son as Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Based on the Law on Government Organization dated June 19, 2015, and the opinion of the Party Central Committee Secretariat in document No. 1428-CV/VPTW dated June 29, 2016, from the Central Party Office, on June 30, 2016, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1209/QD-TTg appointing Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Kim Son – Permanent Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi – to the position of Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

The Prime Minister has appointed Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son as Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

A brief biography of Comrade Nguyen Kim Son:

Born in 1966 in Tan Trao commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong city. Joined the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2000. Received a Bachelor's degree in Literature in 1990 from Hanoi University (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi); PhD in Vietnamese Literature in 1996; postdoctoral research on Confucian thought in Vietnam at Harvard University, USA (2007-2008). Appointed Associate Professor in 2005.

Currently, Director Nguyen Kim Son is a member of the World Confucian Canon Editorial Board; a member of the Editorial Board of the Taiwan Journal of East Asian Studies (Taiwan); and a member of the Executive Board of the World Association for Confucian Studies.

Some of the leadership and management positions I have held:

- From April 1991 to February 1999: Faculty member of the Department of Literature;

- From March 1999 to March 2002: Lecturer at the Faculty of Literature; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- From April 2002 to March 2003: Deputy Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- From April 2003 to April 2006: Head of Training Department and Deputy Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- May 2006 to May 2007: Head of Training Department and Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- November 2009 to May 2010: Vice Rector, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, concurrently Director of the Center for Chinese Studies;

- January 2012 to February 2016: Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi;

- From February 2016 to present: Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Standing Deputy Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
