Brief biography of comrade Nguyen Kim Son:
Born in 1966 in Tan Trao commune, Kien Thuy district, Hai Phong city. Joined the Communist Party of Vietnam in 2000. Received a BA in Literature in 1990 from Hanoi University of Science (now the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - VNU); PhD in Vietnamese Literature in 1996; postdoctoral research on Confucianism in Vietnam at Harvard University, USA (2007-2008). Appointed Associate Professor in 2005.
Currently, Director Nguyen Kim Son is a member of the World Confucian Canon Editorial Board; Member of the Editorial Board of Taiwan Journal of East Asian Studies (Taiwan); Member of the Executive Board of the World Confucian Studies Association.
Some past leadership and management positions:
- April 1991 to February 1999: lecturer at the Faculty of Literature;
- March 1999 to March 2002: lecturer at the Faculty of Literature; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU;
- April 2002 to March 2003: Deputy Director of the Center for Chinese Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU;
- April 2003 to April 2006: Head of Training Department and Deputy Director of China Research Center, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU;
- May 2006 to May 2007: Head of Training Department and Director of China Research Center, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU;
- November 2009 to May 2010: Vice President, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, concurrently Director of the Center for Chinese Studies;
- January 2012 to February 2016: Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Deputy Director of VNU;
- February 2016 to present: Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Permanent Deputy Director of VNU.
