Within the framework of the project "Research on the feasibility of implementing a program to promote academic exchange between Vietnam, Europe, and the United States on Japanese studies," funded by the Toshiba International Foundation (Japan), Professor Harald Fuess (Cluster of Excellence Asia and Europe in a Global Context, University Heidelberg) visited and worked at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

Professor Fuess gave two lectures to students of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies, on the topics "German Beer and Meiji Japan - Modernization of Production and Westernization of Flavors" and "Okinawa and Gunkanjima in Contemporary Tourism History and Culture." During the roundtable discussion, young researchers and students aspiring to pursue research careers heard about the professor's research experiences, were introduced to Japanese studies in Europe, asked questions, and received advice from him.

During a meeting with Professor Pham Quang Minh in mid-September, representatives from both universities discussed the direction of long-term cooperation between the two sides. It is hoped that in the near future, Heidelberg University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will expand their cooperation activities in the field of Japanese studies research and training, and will also develop a framework for cooperation in many other areas.
