Promoting cooperation in Japanese studies research

Prof. Dr. Fuess gave two lectures to students of the Department of Japanese Studies, Faculty of Oriental Studies on the topics “German Beer and Meiji Japan – Modernization of Production and Westernization of Taste” and “Okinawa and Gunkanjima in History and Contemporary Tourism Culture”. During the roundtable discussion, young researchers and students who wanted to pursue a research career heard about the research experiences of the Prof., introduced Japanese studies in Europe, asked questions and received advice from the Prof.

During the meeting with Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh in mid-September, representatives of the two universities discussed the direction of long-term cooperation between the two sides. Hopefully, in the near future, Heidelberg University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will expand new cooperation activities in the field of research and training in Japanese studies, and will also orient to build more cooperation program frameworks in many other fields.
