In the joyful and enthusiastic atmosphere of the opening ceremony, guests, teachers, and students looked back on the school's year of hard work through 10 outstanding events of the 2018-2019 academic year.
Among the more than 2,200 new students this year, the University is especially delighted to have helped fulfill the dream of becoming a Journalism student for Tran Thi Hong Ngoc. Despite extremely difficult circumstances that seemed insurmountable, Ngoc persevered in her studies and was admitted to one of the university's top-scoring programs. Her perseverance and passion for learning have inspired her peers and touched the hearts of many compassionate individuals, from reporters at Dan Tri newspaper to a teacher working at the Cooperation and Development Department of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, from the Nghe An Oncology Hospital to the members of the Himalaya Club. On this journey of compassion, Ngoc was not alone. The University visited Ngoc's family and awarded her a scholarship covering tuition and dormitory expenses for four years of university.
On behalf of the leadership of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, Vice Rector Pham Bao Son highly appreciated the strength derived from the tradition and the quality training achievements of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities over the years.
The Vice Rector of the National University affirmed: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a key training institution – a school that has trained many generations of talented individuals who have made significant contributions to the protection, construction, and development of the country. In the face of globalization dominating all aspects of social life, he believes the University will increasingly focus on improving the quality of training; building a team of lecturers and scientists who are both dedicated and competent; placing students at the center of all activities; and strengthening the attraction of resources for development, enhancing the school's position both domestically and internationally.
The Vice Rector of Vietnam National University, Hanoi also advised the generations of students, hoping they would always strive and work hard to improve themselves: Excellence is not innate but requires striving and effort to grow. Even if someone is born with innate talent, without training, that talent can be worn down and wasted. Your baggage when entering university may be simple: a briefcase, a pen, a notebook, or a personal computer. But when you leave this school, you must have a complete set of knowledge and skills – that will help you confidently travel the world, dare to dream, and reach for great goals.
