On the morning of September 21, 2019 - on a beautiful autumn morning in Hanoi, the opening ceremony of the 2019-2020 school year of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU took place with the participation of generations of teachers, students, and trainees of all courses. Representatives of leaders of agencies, partners inside and outside the school, and employers were present to celebrate with the teachers and students of the school.

In the joyful and excited atmosphere of the opening ceremony, guests, teachers and students looked back on the 1-year journey of the School's efforts through 10 outstanding events of the 2018-2019 school year.

Among the more than 2,200 new students this year, the School is especially pleased to have contributed to the dream of becoming a Journalism student for Tran Thi Hong Ngoc. In extremely difficult circumstances that seemed insurmountable, Ngoc still persevered in her studies to be admitted into one of the majors with the highest scores in the school. It was her perseverance and passion for learning that inspired her peers and touched many other kind hearts, from the reporter of Dan Tri newspaper, to the teacher working at the Development Cooperation Department of VNU, from Nghe An Oncology Hospital to the group of brothers and sisters of Himalaya Club. On this journey of charity, Ngoc is not alone. The School visited Ngoc's family and awarded her a scholarship equivalent to her tuition and dormitory expenses for 4 years of university.

On behalf of the leaders of Hanoi National University, Vice President Pham Bao Son highly appreciated the strength from the tradition and achievements in quality training of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities over the years.

The Vice President of the National University affirmed: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a key training unit - the school has trained many generations of talents who have made great contributions to the cause of protecting, building and developing the country. In the face of the globalization trend that dominates all aspects of social life, he believes that the University will increasingly focus on improving the quality of training; building a team of lecturers and scientists who are both dedicated and knowledgeable; putting learners at the center of all activities; increasing the attraction of resources for development, enhancing the position of the University domestically and internationally.

The Vice President of VNU also sent a message to generations of students, hoping that they would always strive and practice: Excellence is not innate but requires struggle and effort to mature. Even if someone is born with natural talent, if not practiced, that talent can be worn out and become a waste. When you enter university, your luggage may be as simple as a bag, a pen, a notebook or a personal computer. But when you leave this school, you must have a full luggage of knowledge and skills - which can help you confidently travel around the world, dare to dream and reach great goals.
