The 2019 forum expanded its membership to nearly 40 universities from 20 countries: Japan, South Korea, China, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Vietnam, Russia, Germany, Belarus, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Bulgaria, Morocco, Mexico, Chile, and Peru. Delegates discussed and affirmed the importance of language training in the context of rapidly changing global higher education to keep pace with the workforce demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, and innovative solutions to improve the quality of international language teaching at universities.

Associate Professor Hoang Anh Tuan attended the ceremony to welcome new members to the Global Alliance of Universities Teaching Foreign Languages.
Speaking at the Forum, Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan affirmed the importance of innovating language training, introduced the rich tradition of Vietnamese language and Vietnamese studies training at the University, and the mission of innovating teaching and improving Vietnamese language proficiency assessment entrusted by the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training in recent years. The Vice Rector also called on partner universities that are currently teaching or will be teaching Vietnamese to strengthen cooperation in exchanging lecturers, students, and learning materials… so that the teaching of Vietnamese language and Vietnamese language and culture abroad can further develop.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan visited and worked at Xi'an Foreign Language University. Both sides agreed to promote cooperation and exchange of staff and lecturers in the fields of Vietnamese language, linguistic and cultural research, tourism, and media in the coming years.
