Receiving the Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam

On the morning of June 16th, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan held a courtesy meeting with Ms. Marinela Ketkova (Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam) and Mr. Blagoy Prodanov (Deputy Ambassador, in charge of the Political and Consular Section, Embassy of Bulgaria in Vietnam). Also present at the meeting were leaders from the Cooperation and Development Department of the Faculty of Linguistics.

In his welcoming remarks, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his gratitude for the attention and support of Ambassador and the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH). Through the Embassy's role as a connector, many exchange and cooperation activities in training, scientific research, and cultural exchange between the University and Bulgarian higher education institutions have been carried out smoothly and successfully over the years: projects to compile teaching materials, faculty exchange, and student exchange (currently, the University is hosting 3 students under the Bulgarian Government Agreement).

The Ambassador of the Republic of Bulgaria to Vietnam, on behalf of the Embassy, ​​congratulated the University of Social Sciences and Humanities on its achievements, becoming a leading training center for social sciences and humanities in Vietnam. In her remarks, Ambassador Marinela Ketkova also pledged that the Embassy would continue its role as a liaison to further promote cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and universities in Bulgaria, inviting Vietnamese professors to lecture on Vietnamese studies in Bulgaria, and connecting with and sending Bulgarian professors to teach, research, and collaborate in Vietnam. These activities will contribute to strengthening the friendly relations between Vietnam and Bulgaria.

Regarding the project to compile and publish the Vietnam-Bulgaria Dictionary, according to the funding agreement signed between the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (authorized through the Bulgarian Embassy in Vietnam) and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the project implementation period was from May 2020 to May 2022. However, to improve the quality of this publication, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities requested the Embassy to sign an addendum extending the implementation period until the end of September 2022. The Ambassador also reaffirmed the importance of this project: The Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs placed great trust in the University of Social Sciences and Humanities to carry out this project. To date, this is the only Vietnam-Bulgaria Dictionary compiled and published in Vietnam.

Concluding the meeting, Professor Hoang Anh Tuan expressed his sincere gratitude for the favor and support of the Embassy. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is honored to have been selected by the Bulgarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the connecting role of the Bulgarian Embassy, ​​as the implementing unit for this Project. Therefore, the University commits to seriously implement and complete the work on schedule (September 2022) with the highest quality. On behalf of the University's leadership, Rector Hoang Anh Tuan hoped that in the future, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities would continue to receive the attention and support of the Ambassador and the Embassy so that the cooperative relationship between the University and cultural and educational organizations and universities in Bulgaria would become even deeper and more effective.
