On September 6, 2016, Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) received and worked with a delegation from Tsinghua University (China) led by Professor Diem Hoc Thong (Director of the Institute of International Relations). Also attending the meeting were representatives of the Department of Cooperation and Development.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities) said that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a leading university in training and research in the field of social sciences and humanities. The University currently has 16 faculties, 12 centers and research institutes as well as more than 10,000 students and trainees of all levels and training systems. In 1995, the University established the Department of Chinese Studies under the Faculty of Oriental Studies and conducted training from bachelor to doctoral levels in Chinese studies. Many Chinese students have studied majors such as International Studies, Vietnamese Studies and Vietnamese Language at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels at the University within the framework of the 1+3, 2+2 training programs. The University wishes to further expand cooperation with Chinese universities and research institutes.

In response, Prof. Diem Hoc Thong thanked the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the warm welcome and proposed a number of cooperative activities between Tsinghua University and Thong School such as organizing international conferences, exchanging students and lecturers, and implementing 2+2, 1,3 training programs.

Associate Professor Dr. Pham Quang Minh agreed with the proposals of Professor Diem Hoc Thong. In response, the President hoped that Tsinghua University would send students, trainees, and lecturers to the University for visits, research, and internships. In addition, the President suggested that the Institute submit articles and contribute ideas to the University's Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities. The President also hoped that the Institute would send staff and lecturers to attend upcoming seminars and conferences organized by the University, such as the 5th International Conference on Vietnamese Studies in December.

Tsinghua University is the top comprehensive university in China, located in the northwest of Beijing.
